Who Am I?
Who Am I?
Forgetfulness the nightmare
that ever haunts me;
looking into the mirror
all I can ask is
Who am I?
The answer escapes,
and I am left lost
to wander in the darkness
Who am I?
The reflection
in the mirror is a stranger;
I woke up in an unknown place
with no past to account for
Who am I?
Strange clothes
in a strange room,
surrounded by things
unfamiliar; images
of this body I carry
framed on the walls
Who am I?
Others try to tell me,
but the stories they fill
me with mean nothing,
they are for some other person
Who am I?

Exactly. I remember reading a Zen koan that asked: where am I? Who is this 'self' that changes with every second, to pass on to another self? Which of our selves is thinking now. Are they thinking togther or alone, or are we the self that used to inhabit this body?
I like the phrase 'mean nothing' in the third to last line, it can be interpreted in a couple of different ways. I like the idea that nothing is mean, if you take it as that.

Very Poelike in the haunting wonder, Dark Muse.
