What did Caesar mean when he said "I Would rather be first in a village than second

in Rome"?

I always wondered.

when caesar said this, he probably meant that he would rather be first in any other inferior place than second to someone else in the great city of rome- meaning that he wanted to rule it with absolute power. it's kind of obvious, isn't it? once you read the dialogue, i mean.:D
