thoughts of butterflies
butterflies burning into the distance
an image burning your very core
the skyline perfect, through existence
incinerated by thoughts we abhor
the clouds are golden reflections
as flames lick the heavens
heat attacks all directions
and it all falls upon sevens
seven wings to lift the earth
seven arms to hold life still
seven hearts to give birth
seven dreams to fulfill
dreams of glory long since past
dreams of agony, cold as winters frost
thoughts of splendor unsurpassed
thoughts worlds connected, crossed
these wings give way to ashes
cinder darkens a simmering sky
as the image flashes
by and by

I like this poem a lot. It reminds me of a moment of peace when I went to walk in a field of flowers and the flowers turned out to be butterflies. They all leapt into the air and fluttered about. It was an image that flashes by and by, not to be forgotten.
