How To Look Good Naked

No. It's not another thread on Nudity itself!

There is a programme that comes on channel 4 in UK Terresterial TV. The programme attempts to take ordinary people who hate their bodies to look good naked.

What do you think of this programme? Good Idea, Bad Idea?

Although it is sponsored by SpecSavers which don't deal with beauty products but a lot of beauty products get aired on it. (Why spec savers want to sponsor this programme I have no idea. Unless they are masquarading as a innocent sponsor but have connection with Beauty product manufactures!)

Anyway should we be having programmes that encourages people to look good naked?

Any thoughts?

OH dear! I could have lived without knowing about that.

That's a funny web site. One thing you could do to look good naked is give your partner lots of alcohol.

Actually it's a really good programme, it's more about helping women learn to accept themselves, and see the beauty in themselves as they are, instead of thinking that beauty is a stick thin supermodel, or the 12 year olds they get advertising perfume these days.

As far as the beauty products go, they get a group of women to test beauty products and say which they think is best, often the feedback is 'this doesn't work' or often the cheapest product is deemed 'best of a bad bunch'.

On the whole I like this programme, apart from the fact that every programme is pretty much the same, the message and intent of it is great.

Yes I see what you mean, but I think that more than helping women to accept themselves, the TV channel knows that they are going to make money on that programme thanks to the voyeuristic side of it.

Although it is very different from it, I think it also reminded me of another TV programme based on the appearance: it re-looked people, putting in their minds that they had to totally change themselves, even their way of thinking, to be accepted in society. I was feeling bad because of that, because of course the relooked people looked beautiful, but they were total strangers to themselves.
Here I know it's about accepting your body as it is, so it's more positive, but I'm not sure one needs to go on TV to accept their body.

Oh, I agree, but then all TV is about more than what it is, all TV is about making money for the channel, but this programme is very positive, a positive message for women anyway, and it's interesting to see the reactions of the men and how accepting they are of womens bodies in all shapes sizes etc. Nudity is a great leveller, in my opinion, which is why I'm quite strongly in favour of it!

on a more serious note, this programme sounds interesting. I wanna watch it :bawling:
hubby and me are going to England from Feb. 15 to 21, maybe I can catch it then. is it on every day?
yep, most men are much more accepting of 'imperfect' female bodies than you'd think. I think women put a lot more pressure on themselves than is necessary, because they assume men have these 'high' standards, but in reality men have totally different preferences.

Well, yes, I guess men are accepting of women's different body shapes. When you fall in love with someone, you don't care about 'imperfections', you just love the person the way he/she is. The strange thing to me is that these women would go on TV to accept their nudity. They cannot accept their bodies BUT they would go on TV to say it?

Not that there is anything wrong with exhibitionism, I mean. It's just that I think of TV using these women just to gain money. In the meantime I am not sure a woman who really has trouble with her body would choose such a radical solution as claiming it on TV and having the whole country looking precisely at her body. :rolleyes:
This sounds like a big joke to me.
