Favourite Ivanhoe character?

I always liked Rebecca and I never saw what Ivanhoe saw in boring old Rowena...

I'd have to say Wilfred of Ivanhoe. He embodies the epitome of chivalry, although sadly he is purely fictional. :(

The proud & gallant Sir Brian Bois-Guilbert! Willing to question his beliefs & motivations---but not his honor & loyalty to his brother knights. I thought he was the most mature & honest character. I would've liked to see him go on to further adventures possibly with in service to King Richard along with De Bracy. His death seemed so out of character for such a strong personality!

Rebecca and Bois- Guilbert. What a couple they would have made. Also Wamba has a unique quality, which makes him quite a memorable character.

I think Rebecca is the one for me. I admire her for the way she dealt with Bois-Guilberd. Putting her life on the line when she culd have just yielded... It commands respect.

Yet, I can understand any likability towards Bois-Guilberd. I think he is a Byronic Hero avant-la-lettre. Technically Scott could have employed the format (chronologically), but he didn't make him a main character. he is only lightly touched upon, so he is not prominent.

King Richard was also very engaging.

And Locksley/Robin Hood. Great! He commanded respect.

Wamba was just great, as the fool and wise counseler...

Brian de Bois Guilbert for me, particularly as played by Sam Neill ;) in the film.
He was a baddie certainly, but I think he really loved Rebecca.

Brian de Bois Guilbert - my choice as well. I sometimes like baddies.

I think I'll go with Richard Couer de Lion.
