LOL i have no idea, what a great film though eh?
Theres a book that the play (and obviously the film too) was created after. It is of the same title and author/directer. So try reading it...i've never read it but its not too long.
The Phantom has many lairs since it IS a labyrinth. So, my theory is that he went to an alternative lair....as there probably are many others.
Even though Leroux had his own idea, or didn't, seeing as authors see thing as they originally intended. W/E. You get the idea. Anyway, I think that even though he didn't want readers to come up with their own trashy ideas, he wanted them to put their own ending to Erik's story. My personal belief is that he was so obsessed with Christine that he continued living there to get some semblence of his past life. But that's just me.
I agree.... I believe that he remained behind, remaining hidden, preserving his lonely, dsolate state.
What's with the multi-coloured text Ninniach?
I agree that he stayed behind. At the end of the movie, there is a rose with a black ribbon on Christine's grave. This just goes to show that he stayed close by all those years.
I think he died because in the novel it said he went to the Persian and told him what happened then died
I still wonder how did Christine die...
Christine probably died by an illness or something. Sad. In the book, Erik dies. In the musical and movie, he just disappears. To where? Who knows? But that's what makes for such good Phan fiction.
