and this is
the photograph, this one
image that keeps appearing
at dawn
like a signal
calling her out into
these wide spaces, beyond
her narrow focus
to a place she imagines finding
herself, lying amongst the brush
and tumbleweed, like some life
force, out in the sands,
trying to blossom.
