Oh, I also gave your book titles and name to our best-selling bookstore, who like to be on top of 'whats new'... so here's hoping!

Peter, I have not, as yet, read your books. I have put in a suggestion to our Library, to obtain them. They have yet to let me know the status.
I do not order stuff online, books, clothes, etc., so I am at the mercy of the library. If they do not come through, then I can try our local bookstore to place an order. I would very much like to read these two books for sure.

Federal Republic

by PeterL on 05-05-2021 at 09:09 PM
It has become popular for politicians at the federal level to ignore the Constitutional limits of power of the federal government. The federal government has taken to itself power of nearly all governmental functions, even though many were not granted to it in the Constitution. And they ignore the Tenth Amendment: “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.” Which makes it perfectly

Loss of Reason

by PeterL on 04-21-2021 at 09:06 PM
I was thinking about the decrease of rational thinking that has been apparent in public discourse in America in recent years. Thinking about the time period and other things that were going one made me wonder if there was a relationship between decreased logic in public discourse and the deinstitutionalization of the mentally ill. Did the fact that the mentally ill no longer were kept away from the general population suggest that irrationality was acceptable? I am hesitant about writing this, because

Specifically, I mean the distribution of vaccine against Cov-SARS 2, AKA the Covid 19 vaccine.

To ensure fairness and efficiency in the distribution, the federal government took it upon itself to oversee the distribution and delegated the states to handle

Freedom to Succeed

by PeterL on 03-15-2021 at 08:26 PM
I have written about equality before the law in the past, but there are other varieties of equality, and I was just thinking about equality of wealth. That was because I saw something about Lizzie Warren's idea for a wealth tax.

It seems that she and some others think that everyone should have equal wealth. That may seem nice in theory, but it never has worked in practice. But I can understand why some people are unhappy that there are people as wealthy as Bezos and Gates in a country

Edicts versus Laws

Edicts versus Laws

Article II of the U.S. Constitution specifies that the president “faithfully carry out the acts of Congress", and it also mentions that the president carries out foreign policy and is commander in chief of the military, but the constitution does not give the president the power to make law on his own. Regardless of what powers the president has, as of Feb. 2021, there have been 14,014 executive orders made, according to the Federal Register. https://www.federalregister.gov/pres...ecutive-orders
