Hebrew Class

Rate this Entry
I've been sitting here for about ten minutes, wondering what I was going to blog about. Sad isn't it?

But then I finally figured it out.

HEBREW CLASS!!!!!!

A few weeks ago, I started going to a hebrew class, and IT'S AWESOME!!!!!!!!! The lessons aren't just about learning the language itself. There's a bible study, hebrew dancing, then the actual lesson.

The bible study part was a gift from God, because in order to go to the class I've got to miss the church bible study. But, I do miss my friends.

*smirks* The dancing: Hebrew music is absolutely gorgeous, BUT the dancing is sooooo hard...

Actually, I take that back, the dancing isn't the problem. The problem is my two left feet. One good thing about it, though, is that you don't have to pick a partner, everybody just stands in one big circle.
Then, of course, I end up stepping on everybody's feet. Seriously, I will never learn to be graceful. I'm doomed to trip over my own feet for the rest of my life. . . . .

moving on . . . .

This is seriously annoying. I've started biting my nails (again). Now they are really painful even if I only touch them. I just can't seem to stop: I bite them when I'm nervous, bored, tired, mad, hungry, depressed, etc. I have got to stop.

Sometime this weekend I'll try to post a picture of me on litnet. Maybe even one with Andya, if she has time.

My mom and grandmother (father's mother) both speak Hebrew. My mom, because, I think, wanting to be ordained as a Presbyterian minister it's necessary to know it. My grandmother's an atheist though, I think she just did it for er...education or something. Anyway, very cool! Sorry about your nails; I have to cut down on that too, right now.

Shalom rav, lcha! Gam ani ohev ivreet!

That is to say, a big shalom to you, I also love Hebrew! I didn't begin to learn it, paradoxically, until AFTER i returned from a 9-month visit to Israel after highschool, many many years ago. I lived on a kibbutz during that period, took a Hebrew class here in Montreal because I intended to go back and settle in Israel, which never happened but now, here, I love speaking Hebrew the all too few occasions I get to do so. It is a language that speaks to and from my heart, as does Yiddish, but from a different part of my heart.

    Best of wishes to you.

NikolaiI: Wow! Both your mom and grandmother???? Smart family. PrinceMyshkin: *drools: I don't know that much! We're pretty much just learning the alef bet. So far we gotten through the tav, bet, lamed, shin, dalet, and resh. It isn't much, but still, it's a start. We're also having a Hanukkah party soon, and I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!!!

I never saw this the first time and now that it has come around it coaught my eye. So how well do you know Hebrew? That sounds impressive. It looks hard to read, let alone speak.
