I'm a Diced Tomato

I've been thinking about the government lately. Yes, politics...a no-no...

As much as I love my country, it's hard for me to trust it...it seems to me that times were better "back then". I'm only 15, but I can read and study history. I admire our founding fathers so much for doing the God-like thing they did, so it's hard for me to say that "I don't trust my country".

Maybe revolutions are necessary every now and then. People change, ideas change. That's a fact. The Constitution itself says that the People have the "right to alter or abolish the government".

I just wish this world wasn't so corrupt. Something is going to happen sooner or later, though.

But then again I'm only 15. What do I know?

After over 20 years in the military politics are a major bore to me. BUT I believe I can affirm that our government tries thru a tedious torturous method of checks and balances TRIES to do the most good for the most people. Simplistic you bet. Satisfying ultimately--not really. For me when in the military accountablity for my actions was pretty clear with no room for doubt. Yes changes would come slowly -- in civilian land I feel the problem with government is not as much accountability across the board. I got very good in the service at making things appear to be in place (and they often were). Federally there is so much of it it's hard to keep up. I actually felt safer in the Air Force the President had little time or desire to pay much attention to it. I admire your interest in the country and please let nothing I say discourage you nor should it. I still remmeber segregation and the 50s were not all that I assure you.

Oh no you know a whole lot---more than the average white collar worker, they're too busy chasing cars and big houses and then when that's not enough they build additions and eventually sell the place. But now they're all screwed because the market's collapsed so they're hanging on for dear life juggling bills. Anyway...

Revolutions are necessary, absolutely. Our beloved Thomas Jefferson said something like "the tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants," and he figured every 20 years the constitution should be changed to prevent political corruption. But it hasn't happened, which goes right to your point that the US is a mess. I'm planning to get out of this country one day. Americans don't believe in revolutions, anymore. Revolutions are for bad people, but you know better. Head up, forward.
