Men Are More Evolved Than Women!

I knew it all along! Now there's scientific proof!!

Is it a surprise? Why are there more male geniuses in the world? Who has the larger brain? The bigger skeleton? The more muscular body? Who can run faster? Lift more? Why are men the alpha and women the beta? Sports, chess, being able to stand at a urinal. We are better in every way. And now there's proof!!! Check this out.

Men more evolved? Y chromosome study stirs debate
AP Science Writer

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Women may think of men as primitive, but new research indicates that the Y chromosome - the thing that makes a man male - is evolving far faster than the rest of the human genetic code.

A new study comparing the Y chromosomes from humans and chimpanzees, our nearest living relatives, show that they are about 30 percent different. That is far greater than the 2 percent difference between the rest of the human genetic code and that of the chimp's, according to a study appearing online Wednesday in the journal Nature.

These changes occurred in the last 6 million years or so, relatively recently when it comes to evolution.

"The Y chromosome appears to be the most rapidly evolving of the human chromosomes," said study co-author Dr. David Page, director of the prestigious Whitehead Institute in Cambridge and a professor of biology at MIT. "It's an almost ongoing churning of gene reconstruction. It's like a house that's constantly being rebuilt."
You can read the rest here:

So men are 30% more advanced than chimps while women are only 2%.

But one more paragragh further down which is the critical one:

Researchers took the most detailed examination of the Y chromosome, which females do not have, of both humans and chimps and found entire sections dramatically different. There were even entire genes on the human Y chromosome that weren't on the chimp, said Hughes, also of the Whitehead Institute.
Time to celebrate my masculinity!

(Hey, if you can believe in global warming, you can believe in this. Afterall scientists are never wrong. )

I rather be closer to chimps, they are smarter than most humans!

Haha, well the Y chromosome encodes for very little so I'm not surprised. Last I hear it encoded the few genes for male development and a gene for ear hair. It isn't surprising that it would change more because it contains less vital information that would result in lethal mutations.

The most likely reason though is that the Y chromosome is exclusively patrilinealy inherited which results in relatively low diversity amongst humans because a Y chromosome lineage can easily be wiped out in low population groups. So, you have change of the Y chromosome being easier and the possibility that more related Y chromosomes amongst our cousins were wiped out by chance somewhere along the way.

Edit: I did a touch of research and my impression about the problem of patrilineal inheritance being subject to a different kind of selection was mostly right. The other part of the answer that I hadn't thought of was that because of the form of sperm, male gametophytes have higher mutation rates because of the high number of them we produce, and of course all Y chromosomes are inherited from the father.

According to wiki there are 2000 genes on the human x chromosome compared to the 78 on the Y.

Women are the Beta for a reason. Bet-ter!!

It is probably because Y chromosome was so much behind initially... Working hard to catch up with the X.

However, as we can all see, it still has got a long distance to cover!

well that just goes to show, yet again, how much more efficient women are than men. After a significant amount of faffing around and tinkering, men have evolved the ability to fart louder, grow ear hair (thanks OrphanPip!), remote control dependency and other such irrelevancies. 30% on and they're yet to evolve the ability to multi-task, a skill which women discovered after a mere 2% of additional effort

And yes, men can run faster and lift more. That's why women are sitting at home eating chocolates, having already done everything that needed to be done, whilst the men are still out fetching and carrying

Hey Virg, you just like stirring up trouble, don't you? I don't know why you have to read about statistics... When it's clear that women are better than men in every way...

Now that statement should get all the men out of the woodwork... I didn't say it, it was my evil twin... Hahahahaha

Dr David Page may be an alpha male, but I bet he's having to sleep on the sofa at the moment.

Yes, and that "alpha" is merely greek for "annoying," you know, as in "that annoying boy who keeps throwing spitballs."

Another brilliant female thought just came to me...just maybe the male testosterone sabotages and cancels out the benefits of the Y chromosome advantage...I am sure something is going on there, since men can sure act lame at times.

I didn't do the research. You can either believe the scientists or not. After all scientists are never wrong.

LOL!!! So what about all the historians who say that women yielded much power over men, especially (even?) before suffrage?? hmmmmmmmm
