Okay i'm gonna read the second half of your story now. And no i haven't read A Hundred Years of Solitude, but i think you should give it a go. Crime and Punishment is really good, i'm about halfway through and can't stop reading it.

Hey, I wrote part of a short story. Would value your comments-as the story is only have done. Steven Huntley responded. I think he kind of has a similar writing style to you, except his story always have sex in them. Hahah. Do you know Steven, you may like some of his stuff. I think he is from California and has lots of beach themes in his stuff.
