  1. Thank You, Max. The mermaid picture is by an English artist named J.W. Waterhouse, Iappropriately enough. It is lovely, isn't it? You can see it here, and read a littlle bit about it.

  2. Could you please tell me where you got your amazing profile picture? It's a real work of art
  3. Thank you for the vid qimi. Really beautiful!

Happy V Day to you too
  4. Ah, teen-agers. They exist to bring joy. Not.

I've been at it for a while. I think it's been about 15 years. I was older when I started. I stayed home with my kids for about ten years.

I started out teaching English as a Second Language. Most of my kids came from Mexico and thereabouts. I've had students from the Honduras, Guatamala, Cuba, Eritrea, the Gold Coast, Iraq, Afghanistan, Viet Nam. They were my favorites. Now I teach English, which I would enjoy more if I actuall got to teach it.

Right now we're working on test skills for the state-mandated test which will be given in early March. We are also reading "Fahrenheit 45." They are enjoying it more than they thought they would. I'll also need to start preparing them for the AP exam which they'lll take in April, I believe. This is the first year that I've taught APso I'm still figuring it all out.
  5. Oh my! Teenagers! You must have a really hard time dealing with all that energy and surely VHS was far more convenient for teachers How long have you been teaching? If it's very long, then you must have a lot of patience
  6. You're funny. My students are teenagers. It would be very improper to show that to them, they would have much too good a time watching it!

I miss the old days with VHS-you could fast-forward and the picture would get fuzzy, no harm, no foul, everyone was happy (especially the teacher ).
  7. Cossette's picture is really touching indeed. You made a great choice for an avatar. Les miserables is, I believe, a tremendous masterpiece.

I haven't seen the movie yet, but I have spotted a few scenes where I can clearly see a pair of... boobs well, the scene I watched is actually a cleavage but you know, it can still be improper to show it in schools, and the boobs are moving all the time What's the average age of your students?
  8. As to your question, I regret to say I haven't seen the movie yet-although I own it. I got in case I get to teach it again. Showing the movie after reading really makes it come to life. But for some reason I've never sat down and watched it. I guess I'll have to see if I can find it, I know it's around here somewhere. Is it any good? I had doubts about being able to use it in school as after I got it I was told Angelina Jolie's character was, uhm, virtually naked. And I can't show that in school, after all.
  9. Actually, Maximilanus, I only found that out just now, too. I've seen the Broadway play-when it came to Dallas, twice. That picture of Cossette is also the one used for the musical.

I just love that picture. Something about that little face, so sad, so haunting...
