Conversation Between andave_ya and Virgil

  1. Great! I love the Aeneid. I've never read that translation. I've read the Fitzgerald and the Fagels translations. Now shouldn't you be concentrating on Math in your math class.
  2. Hi Virgil! I just wanted to let you know I've begun reading the Aeneid, James Rhoades' translation - and adoring it! I'm halfway through book II; Aeneas' vision of Hector was splendid! It reads rather differently from Homer (I read Samuel Butler's translations, I'm pretty sure), rather less pompous and without so much trafficking by the gods, at least so far. I'm really enjoying this. I was reading it in the break in my math class today and was absolutely carried away, so much to the point that I blinked when I looked up and saw the board instead of Hector! "There is no frigate..." (I seem to be quoting a lot of Dickinson lately )
  3. yeah, I'm really sorry about that .
  4. Eek, that girl was rather harsh to you in her reply. Think nothing of it.
  5. Good. Life is to be enjoyed, within a moral framework of course. I fully believe God wants it that way.
  6. oooops, I think I messed up my meaning entirely . I'm not trying to plan and organize eternity - I just want to say that whatever comes round the bend in the road, I'm ready .
  7. "I could not stop for death, so he kindly stopped for me..." Ok, but think about life more. Let's see you're 17 and you will probably live to 87 at least which means you've got 70 years of life to plan and sort out. Once you cross that threshold from "which no traveler returns" then you've got plenty of time to plan and organize eternity.
  8. last time I looked it was under 3000!!
Hm. I appreciate it; I will eventually.
But death interests me. I know that sounds morbid, but it's true. So many people are afraid of it but it's truly the last frontier...And as a Christian, I'm unafraid. I don't think I've gotten enough of life yet, but if death comes... I could not stop for death, so he kindly stopped for me...
  9. My, my, aren't you popular. Over 3000 views to your proile. Oh and stop thinking about death. You have lots and lots of life in ront of you. Just think about how much you'll love ging away to college.
  10. Oops, sorry Virgil, the math isn't from high school - I'm taking a math course at the local college. That's where I'm learning about matrices.
And, the solution key is actually recommended by the teacher . I was just hoping I could get away with it .
    Thank you
