Two Youtube links from one of our news programs. The ladies talk in neutral Argentinian (we have regional dialects too ), and I speak very similar to them... of course with a masculine voice... last time I checked I was still a male http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dsCEoQt5EbU http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o1U3XQ1c65s Clarification needed please... what sounds warm and friendly? ... my name? ... or my English? Thank you for your opinion about my English. It means a lot to me, really Go for French! I'm sure you'll make it! You are a smart lady, you have the "grace" and the "light" (), so if you want then you can. I'm more than sure of it.
Although most of my friends have a fair idea of what they wish to do in the future, I've heard many stories where at the age of 18, people completely change their mind about what they wish to do and take on a subject at University completely unrelated to what they studied at college. So perhaps in a sense, our educational system is a tad more flexible when it comes to this. I've always wanted to teach... and it was at the age of eleven I decided it was to be English Literature specifically. Although I distinctly remember two other ambitions from my childhood: for years I was set on becoming an archaeologist due to my fascination with ancient history (Eygptians in particular), and for a short period of time, I wanted to be a Firefighter. What were your childhood ambitions?
Really? I've yet to hear an argentinian accent. This calls for a Youtube visit... ..... Haha, oh wow, I really like it. It sounds so warm and friendly. I do, it's more or less perfect. You articulate yourself much better than some people who are actually English, in my opinion Well, I hope I will be able to express my ideas as well as you do in French, one day. Hahaha, I might decide to punch at some point in the future. But I think in order to wake you up, for the time being, I shall just wave at you from over the Atlantic, a wave followed up by a banana dance!
My High School had a similar system. First, we had three years of basic studies ("Ciclo Básico" Basic Level, roughly). After that, three more years of specific studies related to what we thought would be what we'd like to do with the rest of our lives ("Ciclo Superior" Advanced Level, roughly too). The problem is that there were many folks soon unsatisfied by what they had chosen. Dunno if it's common in your place, but here teenagers seem more than often uncertain about what they want... they change their minds too frequently... like being unstable for some reason... though probably it's normal, I figure. I think the system has severe failures too, especially when it comes to guide a confused teen. I believe European educational systems must be better in this aspect, or so I've been told. What's your opinion? Note this one too: "¡Dame una bofetada transatlántica!" (Gimme a transatlantic punch! ) PS: Thank you for the PM (shhh! I won't tell anyone )
Aw, you bear me with your thoughts! How sweet of you! Thank you so much! Actually the Spaniards have a very different accent from ours (accents are like that ) Hmm... do you really believe my English is good? It's very important for me to have an objective opinion from a native speaker. The thing is that I feel a never ceasing love for English that began some 20 years ago, and I believe that once you begin learning a language you embark yourself on a never ending adventure, so to speak Now I can't imagine my life without English being a part of it; it's something I need everyday. To tell the truth it was quite hard at first. I was trying to express an idea, and I just couldn't find how I hope now I do make myself clear enough... what do you think? Do I? Why not punch me? Come on, I can take it! It can help me wake up for once Give me your best distant punch across the ocean... I may even feel it if you exert it
I was actually in the city centre today, and there was a large group of Spanish tourists on a trip. I heard them talking and thought of you Haha. How long did it take you to learn English so well? Oh I wouldn't dare punch you! Plus there's the small matter of a rather large distance between us. Well, A-Level stands for 'Advanced Level' and yes, I think you need them to get into Universities. There's a vast range of subjects you can select to study, and I believe most people select subjects according to their desired future career - although it's not essential to do so. How does your education/exam system work? Thank you for all these little phrases; I'm taking note!
And... yet another bedtime phrase (very popular here): Que sueñes con los angelitos = "Dream about the little angels"
I am of the general opinion that every European language has an appeal of its own, or so I feel about most of them, though I have my favourites of course, them being Spanish (naturally, it's my mother tongue ), English and French (though not really in a fixed order). I also have a certain attraction towards German, though I've been told it's a hard one (well... people are always telling you how hard it is when you want to learn something new... they said the same about English when I was saying I wanted to go for it... so everybody gives opinions... you know how people are ) Why! ... can you really help me see the light by punching me? ... Oh please, gimme your best shot, please!!! Tell me a little more about the A-levels. Are these qualifications compulsory in order to be admitted in Universities? Do you choose the subjects according to a future career you plan to study at college... or how does it work?
That's true enough. Writing requires alot of patience in my opinion. Often, when you go looking for that special something that will make it exactly how you imagine it in your head, you ruin it. It requires some waiting around (or perhaps an enlightening punch? ) Well, I'm not sure how your exam system works, but I now have to study 4 subjects for 2 years in order to gain 3 qualifications we call A-levels (as you have the option of dropping one after the first year; I intend to do all 4.) I've chosen English Literature, French, Psychology and Government & Politics. "Que duermas bien" I like that. I'll remember that one.
Haha, indeed I shall be your U.K representative. It's a beautiful language isn't it? Saying that, I'm in love with the Spanish language also. Thank you so much for the link; it will be very useful to me. Haha, I would imagine it would be a somewhat enlightening punch. It would hit you... and you'd suddenly see the light!
