Yea, his unit was in heavy fighting during WWII. He had a nervous breakdown at the end of it. He is Seymour Glass in 'Perfect Day for Bananafish" for the most part. I think these universities like Princeton obtained unpublished works(rejected before his fame) or in alot of cases they act as custodian for rare and unreleased books as they have special archive rooms conditioned for preservation. Happy Monday!
I read the article. I did not know that he was a veteran. I did know about his need for solitude. He's a very interesting person. An obvious question: how did Princeton acquire 5 of Salinger's unpublished stories? I did not know he was affiliated with the university. Thanks for the article. Happy Monday!
It's been two years since he died in Jan 2010. I had heard a year ago that Princeton University has 5 unpublished works. He left everything in trust with, very likely, specific directions for the trustees and they are not saying anything. i had heard, and sort ofo confirmed that Princeton university is custodian of 5 books/stories. http://www.centraljersey.com/article...3546728935.txt
Hey Tony- I read his 9 short stories a very long time ago. I am also stunned by the treasure trove of unpublished works. They have got to publish his stuff.
did you read all of Salinger's books and published short stories? I am Floored that his estate (held in trust) has not published any of his massive unpublished writing since 1965!
miss it. posted to yourself. i went to bed soon after. I have to get up early with Little Jersea.
good night sir!
What does that mean- epic? So you went OUT! I'm having a recovery Saturday night vodka from my week. LOL! It is the same time down there- 8:45 here. It's like 2 feet of snow in my back yard. Hurricanes for you? Go to recover nicely- assuming that means you are relaxed.
