So if a government enforces capital punishment as a punishment for a crime, would you consider that democratic? I agree, ideals can get messy.
I never said that it was boring. It just seemed to me quite unusual to write on these issues. I 'm instictively sceptic towards Ideals and I think that the quality of a regime consists of the ballance between democracy-freedom and equality-justice. How democratic a form of government is could be concluded from the limits of the freedom of speech and the heaviest punishment the regime suggests for a crime. On the other hand, the goal of egalitarianism is relevant to the level of redistribution of wealth, power, privileges and knowledge that takes place. Our liberal democracies aren' t exactly ideal forms of government, but they probably constitute an achievement. [It is difficult to separate a form of government from its socio-economic context, and some believe that liberal democracy is the necessary supplement of capitalism]. That's all...
I knew it would sound boring. More specifically, I write about different characters who live under different types of government, and the stories are about how they oppose it or enjoy it. In my opinion, there can be no ideal form of government by men, because no one is perfect. Some can be more beneficial than others, though. What do you think is the best form of government?
I can' t imagine myself writing literature on such themes! They sound to me more like the object of an essay. I ' m also working (over the last 3 years) on a history of modern and contemporary philosophy, but it' s more like an fascinating academic project. anyway, i have to go. what would be the ideal model of government like (if there is such a thing)?
Sorry, I meant, what is the name of your degree? But you said it's teaching philosophy. My degree is Communications, which is writing, speaking, things like that. I wrote an allegory about service to God, and I wrote a fantasy/fiction story about my views on war and the importance of keeping your temper. The sequel I'm (trying to) write right now is about different types of government. That sounds really boring, but I really enjoyed my government class in my last year of high school. It's about more than just government.
I ' m not sure what 'major in' means, but if the question has to do with my studies, i 'll answer that lessons on psychology, education and philosophy (my secret passion) are included. What i 'd like to do (in life) is to teach philosophy in university but since i 'm only 19 there is a long and tough path untill i achieve this goal. Do you want to tell me more about your stories?
I've written an allegory and a fiction for fun; I'm not brave enough and don't have enough time to see if anyone would publish them. What are you majoring in?
Not really. I believed in the authentic strength of inspiration, but the thing is that it (or She, because in greek inspiration is female) comes rarely unless you push yourself. Anyway, i ' ve written some poems (or 'poems') and on May i started working on a short novel. what about you?
Hi, Josef, I liked your addition to the story. Do you write for fun a lot?
