  1. Hey maz. Yes, we in the Dallas area are fine. Galveston got hit pretty hard. Thank you for your kind thoughts.

Yes, let me know what you think. And there's more. I will write you about that a little later in the week. I'm lucky to have a job today (fingers crossed).

I have some more new on Cdn, also.

Uh, mazHur, I started a new thread, maybe you saw it. It's called 'Simple Snaps," and it's for snapshot poetry- short poems that capture a person or moment in time. Maybe you'd like to try one?

How's life in your part of the world? I hope you and yours are safe and happy.

    Qim
  2. Hey mazHur, I'll send you the same article I sent my friend, but it may take a day or two. See ya!
  3. Hey mazHur,

I really should go to bed, but I wanted to drop by and say hi. We are busy watching Hurricane Ike developments at the moment-big news in our part of the world. They say that it is a hurricane the size of Texas, and 400 miles of the Texas coastline in on alert. Most of Galveston and thousands in Houston have evacuated. They said to stay in Galveston was practically a death warrant. We live six hours from the coast and we're still supposed to get an estimated 4" of rain and winds of 35-45 miles an hour. It may not be that bad here, now, because they are now saying the storm is going to be a little east of here. I adore thunderstorms and the drama of nature-although I don't want anyone to lose their live, home or livelihood.

Well, we shall see what we shall see!
  4. Your avatar is very cool!
  5. mazHur,
Getting ready to log off-my son wants on!

You are correct about the tail-just like the blades of the scissors.

I'm sorry to hear that his reputation is unclean. We always have such hope for our political leaders and how they disappoint us.

Thanks for filling me in on the situation between your country and India. Got to go; I'll be back tomorrow!
  6. Hey mazHur,

How are you? Although I live in Texas now, I'm originally from Oklahoma. Here is a haiku for you about my home state.

    Oklahoma dawn
    scissortail flycatcher blinks
    leaves glint red and gold

The scissortail flycatcher is our state bird. I've only seen one once or twice. I will be missing Oklahoma during the fall. The leaves turn gorgeous colors. In Texas the leaves don't really change color.

I hear Pakistan has a new president. Is this a good thing? Are you glad? I was saddened when Benazir Bhutto was assassinated. I'm not very political, so I hope I'm not stepping on any toes to say that. And why can't you go to India?
  7. Happy September mazHur!
  8. Hey mazHur,

I hope everything is well with you. "Watch mongooses frolicking on the beach wall..." how fun! And poetic. It sounds like you live in such as lovely place! I don't blame you in the least for avoiding the dreaded fast food places. They are a curse upon our society! I mean that sincerely, even though I eat at MacDonald's at least once a week, usually for breakfast. It's just so darn convenient!

I hope your electric situation has improved. It wasn't too hot here, so that hasn't been a problem this year. When it's consistently over 100 degrees we will have brownouts, but I haven't heard of any yet. Today it was only 90 degrees. Nice!

Tomorrow is Labor Day, so maybe I'll get to get on again. Have a good day!

    Bye,
    Qim
  9. Hey mazHur,
It's summer here, too! It's like 100 degrees out, very humid. Since we live in the city, there's pollution; I heard that today was a level red, which I think is the highest level there is!

I feel for you and understand these fears we have as we grow older...h-m-m-m mazHur, with all these relatives why isn't someone taking an interest in your situation?! And as far as kids are concerned, they do grow up and move away, don't they? My kids are a little younger than yours I think, but I am here to give them a ride, hand out some money, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera, as the King of Siam said!

My heart goes out to you, my friend. I don't want you to ever forget your dear one, but I want this for everyone, that they have something and someone to live for. I will hold that wish for you in my heart.

I, too, have a simple email account: [email protected].

Stay out of the heat and drink lots of water!!!

    Qim
  10. I am so very sorry that you lost your wife. My parents have been married for 60 plus years. I don't know what will happen to whomever is left behind. And while grief can never entirely go away, I believe you will be capable of finding some joy in life at some point, and I truly believe your wife would want that for you.

We lost my brother many years ago now, twenty-two I believe. I will never forget how my parents suffered. I have a picture I took of them about six months after his death. They are both sitting, arms on their legs, their heads bowed. Mom said there was no happiness in their lives for about five years. She said she didn't think there would ever be, and then she said one day she smiled, and it crept back into her life.

I am not trying to convince you that what is in your heart will ever be different than it is now. Your life is yours to experience in your own way. But life is urgent and it never exists in a vacuum...it demands to be lived. As it says in the Bible.."weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning." Sometimes whether we want it to or not.

I hope you have a beautiful day, knowing there are people close by who love you.

(BTW it is an Inuit word meaning 'Snowbound;' it has no personal meaning in that sense. I chose it about five years ago as a username for the internet because I liked it-I thought it was pretty and unusual, and I've used it ever sense. My real name is Leslie, which I also like. )
