And what makes the cows sacred ?
Ic , thx for the information . I used to think that Hinduism is the same as Buddhism . But from Plauclem I learnet that they are not the same .
It is not necessarily a female. Anyhow, it is not a sheep but a cow. In Hinduism and Vaishnavism, cows are considered sacred and holy. Krishna, for example, has multiple names, including Vasudeva, Narayana; Govinda and Gopala - the last two which mean protector of cows, and "he who is pleasing to cows and the senses." And Krishna is male... but He's not independent - Radha, the woman in the pictures, is Krishna's eternal consort; and the two of them form God as a whole, but separate to enjoy their divine play of love.
The last painting in (devotee art 3) the female has the body of a sheep ; why did they paint the body like that? the Krishna is the female ? what about the male ?
Hi Caddy, Those are ones I got from a friend, he shared his collection with me, of a couple hundred.. Which civilization.. I believe they are from people from all over - probably most are American by birth - I think they're almost all done by devotees in ISKCON. Glad you like them I know in Islam there aren't usually pictures of God, and of course not Mohammad, PBUH - in Gaudiya Vaisnavism (worship of Krishna or Vishnu), pictures of Krishna are considered holy, and that's why its devotees paint them with so much devotion.
Hi NikolaiI , The paintings in your albums are awesome . You've a very special taste . I like painting very much, and I think painting is the greatest talent men could be endowed with . To which civilization these paintings belong ?
hhhhhh Actaually I have problem in memorizing names . Names , digits, dates can never stick in my mind . I don't know why . That's really embarrasing . I can just memorize what Means to me . For instance I can remember Caddy and Benjy from The Sound and The Fury not any other name because I adore them .
Caddy - it's okay.. it's no problem. I noticed you did the same thing with blazeofglory.. in his case it actually is his name.. his user title Haribol, but you called him Harold... I don't think he minded but I just wanted to point it out to you Although I do have to admit... it is rather funny to think "Harold Acharya"
No, actually I do have a friend who is named Ananda, who is a man.. His dad was into Hinduism and India and went there a lot... and he named his son Ananda.. and Ananda doesn't know much about religion.. but it is a great name I think. One of perhaps a handful in our whole country who are born here named that..
Hi Caddy, You're welcome. My name is Alex-- my user title is not Amanda, but Ananda, with two N's. It's a Sanskrit word, that means bliss. Thank you very much for saying that. Salam
