Neither do I, although I'm learning more gradually. A book I borrowed recently is really amazing, though, called Atom from the Sun of Knowledge. I'm typing out a poem which is also the first chapter of the book, and I may post the whole of it or parts on here. This is one excerpt I wanted to share with you: la ilaha illallah Chanting dervishes are the melodious thunder of Allah, waves of love in the stormy ocean of Love breaking in ecestacy against the Throne of Allah. The heart of the dervish is a tiny golden ball cast high into the boundless sky of Truth by immense waves of Divine Resonance. Who exists other than Allah to affirm that Allah alone exists?
Yeah I saw that, though I don't know all that much about Sufism as I've just discovered Rumi, which was like a great epiphany. He is truly the Shakespeare of Persian poetry. Btw, I assume that you've read the Bhavagad Gita. What would you suggest is the best translation?
Thanks. I've been curious, did you see where I mentioned that his followers founded the Order of Whirling Dervishes? They're also called the Mevlevey Order, they're within Sufism. I've been wanting to check them out for some time, I thought it would be interesting to meet them, seeing that they are in the line from Rumi. There's another group I have been meeting, also of Sufis... part of the Chisthi Order... and a specific person in it who began something called the Dances of Universal Peace.
Hey GREAT Rumi quote in your signature. Btw, I would like to say that I really like your posts in the religious texts forum.
