  1. Tonight actually I go to chess club at 7, so it's not a good night for me. This weekend I don't think I'll have internet either, so may next week?

I am sorry and I hope we can play soon. Ttys
  2. I get out of work between 6-6.15 so 6.30 is good. I'll log onto LitNet at that time and we can arrange it there.
  3. You shouldn't have to download a program, I think. I've never had to, it always uses a jin interface. See if you can get it to work. I'm able to use it on the library computers here. But if you can't then yeah we can always use Yahoo.

Yes I'm a somewhat inactive tournament player. I've played in about 60 or 65, and I'm a somewhat rusty A player. There's a great chess club here, rather small but wonderful people. I've got to meet and play a few grandmasters over the years at the club. The club's actually run by our USCF president, Jim Berry.. he's a really amazing person. Him and his brother Frank have done so much for Oklahoma chess. Around here I've never really seen chess like it is in Chicago or New York or something but the tournaments are terrific. Much better than the ones in Kansas City I went to when I lived there.

I look forward to playing too... we really just need to set a time. How about today actually? Did you say around 6 was a good time?
  4. Yep, I've played on FICS before, though if I remember correctly I had to download software, and I'm not sure if I can do this on the library computers that I use. If there is an online interface then that would be fine. Worst case scenario we can use Yahoo :-)

Are you a tournament player? I've been playing in tournaments on and off for some years now. There's also a vibrant chess scene in Chicago - every day dozens of players congregate at the beach to play blitz. There's a master who goes there and dominates the scene.

I look forward to playing you sometime next week!
  5. Hi Ktm -
no problem. I understand. Unfortunately I won't be able to play today or the weekend but I may have time next week. I think you're right that scheduling a time to play is the best way to catch each other; but right now I can't say for certain which time next week I'd have.
How about we stay in touch until then? I won't have internet this weekend.

Have you ever played on FICS? It's my preference if it's okay for you.
  6. Hey Nikolai,

Sorry that I haven't replied. My computer is broken and the only time I have computer access is when I go to the nearby library (a mile away) or when I dare to surf the web at my job How about we schedule a time to play? Anytime in the next few days after 6pm is good for me - since that is when I get off my job, and the library is nextdoor. Just let me know what time/day and I will bring my headphones and plan to go to the library after work :-)
  7. Hi Ktm - no reply..

still want to play sometime? I am kinda busy usually and often don't have internet but still often do. Do you know about FICS? Freechess.org is their website.

I'm not real good at correspondence.. meaning I usually forget to send moves..

    Anyway, let me know
  8. Hello ktm,

Sure, that would be fun. I usually use FICS, but only to play with a friend who lives in another town. Is FICS ok? My name on there is NikolaiI just as on here.
  9. hey nikolai, i saw you made quite an intelligent post on female chessplayers in the chess thread (from a year ago). do you still play chess? would you like to play sometime?
