There is a baritone in my band who has no natural talent, but she works very hard and does pretty well. Did you ever sit with a piano and play, comparing the pitches with your instrument? That can help with ear training, if you ever decided to pick it up again
But I'm tone deaf, I think. I'm not sure I had the ability to create a sound and know if it's in tune. It's easy to listen and enjoy others play but to do it oneself requires ear/mouth/hand coordination.
Aaw, Virgil, your saxophone stories are so sad! I would have given you lessons if you were in my band. I do that now with those....less musically endowed.
