I took JS to the doctor today and he was sent home with a clean bill of health. The doctor said that he is to come back again in 18 months. He has gained weight, but he wants to be sure he continues to make more gains. Hence, the continued nightly milkshakes. As for his walking, he also felt confident that he would soon be walking. He said it was not a matter of strength, but balance. He took three steps to me many times today. I think it will be happening sooner than later. It is so hard to have these conversations that eliminate the possibilty of autism when your kid is just not following the "norms" of development. I felt good, but had real insight into parents who have to face the fact that their child may have autism.
Thanks, I'll let you know what is going on after the visit.
when you say small, how small ? You mention that he isn't gaining enough weight but I hope he's not losing weight. I know that some kids aren't big eaters but at least you are doing your best to make sure he is getting all the nutrients that he needs. Matthew is just the opposite. He has a big appetite and it amazes us at times as to how much he can eat. Thankfully he is not overweight since he burns it all off by moving around non stop. I know you are anxious for your son to be walking but trust me watch out when he does start. Keep me posted as to what the doctor says Don't worry!!
Happy Mother's Day! JS has been known to take 3 steps, but I have yet to see it. We are going to the doctor on the 13th. Not for the foot, but b/c he is so small. He isn't gaining enough weight. He isn't a big eater. We put cream in his bottle to help fatten him up and give him ice cream. I give him donuts and cookies as well. How is your angel?
I was wondering if your little guy is walking yet ?
Thanks. That is good feedback. I will keep you posted.
He was around 14.5 months. It sounds like he is doing what Matthew did. Little by little Matthew tried to take baby steps by himself and kept falling. He kept at it until one day he walked over me!! Be patient and it will happen before you know it and then you'll be sorry he's walking LOL!!! Keep me posted
Hey Puss, I have a question for you. Little Jersea is 13.5 months and not walking. He's pulling himself up, walking along things while holding on- but still not walking. How old was Matthew when he started to walk? I feel like it is never going to happen and it drives me crazy. jersea
Hi Puss, I just wanted to check in and let you know I was thinking of you. I'm not sure if my blog response portrayed that in Virgil's blog entry. I know how hard you two are working at parenting. I'm exhausted.
I just want you to know a I am checking your blog daily to see if there is any news!
