  1. The plan is to take it further - I'm currently up to my neck in MA application procedures, amongst other things!
  2. It's really interesting to see people into stuff like that, I've not even heard of any of them apart from Chaucer of course. I've not really got an area of specific interest really, but I suppose I spend more time in the 19th century so that would be one if anything. It is true that the 19th century was an awfully long period, with a lot going off, but when I come to do my dissertation it is likely to be on the Romantics or the later Victorians, also if I get the opportunity to study further it is likely to be in this area too.

Yes I live and work in Sheffield and study part-time at Sheffield University. You are studying at Leeds then I take it? Are you likely to take your studies further (assuming you are studying a BA at present)?
  3. Hello! Always nice to know someone's listening! Ah yes, the Old Norse stuff is more than a little obscure, but can basically be boiled down into poetry (Eddaic and skaldic) and sagas (but of varying length). Although I love them all, I have to say that the Eddaic poetry is probably my favourite, particularly powerful and vivid poems like 'Voluspa' or (unsurprisingly) witty poems like 'Lokasenna'. I'm also heavily into Anglo-Saxon texts. That said, I'm also into the mainstream, later stuff - I love Chaucer, and am currently reading some Middle English hagiographies (good fun!). What about yourself? I notice you're located in Sheffield - I'm currently (though not for much longer) in Leeds!
  4. Hello there Lokasenna, I often enjoy reading your comments. What sort of Medieval/Norse stuff do you enjoy, it is not an area I am at all familiar with?
