  2. Hi Princess,
I sent you an Email this morning but unfortunately I wasn't able to connect to Lit Net because of computer problems that I have mentioned in the Email. So I missed your reply below. Comparative Western Politics is a great subject and I note the judicious choice of countries you have mentioned. The USSR is the odd man out as its current constitution is of recent provenance compared to the others and I don't think the dust has yet settled on the collapse of the Soviet Union. I have a particular interest in French politics which are the most interesting of four. Having read most of Emil Zola's works, it is fascinating to note that the in-fighting that has gone on in French politics since the revolutions of 1789, 1830, 1848 is still prevalent today and makes fascinating reading in the French press.
  3. As you may know, the UK doesn't have a written constitution but at last there is talk about a possible change in this regard. Switzerland is a confederation of about 7 million people of German, French and Italian origin who, in my view, have a real democracy that enables them to vote on all major issues affecting their country; unlike the others mentioned who can only vote on what politicians want them to vote on.
Anyhow, I hope you enjoy studying the subject and look forward to your views on it.

As regards Milly, I brushed her coat this morning as this is the time of year when she starts to shed some of her fur and I don't want the bother of trying to vacuum it off of the carpet and furniture.

    Be good,

    Brian.
  4. LOL! You sir, never fail to make me smile! That definitely made my day! To get the conversation rolling, I have decided to "specialize" in UK politics. It turns out that one of our subjects next semester is Comparative Western Politics. We'd be studying political systems from the UK, France, USSR, and Switzerland. I think I should get a head start on the reading, say a month before class starts. Hehehe. This should be fun! Give Milly a hug for me! I shall be awaiting your email Sir de Londinium!

    Love lots,
    Princess
  5. Well Princess,

You realise that you are depriving the LitNet forum of your charming presence. However, I cannot allow a damsel to remain in distress to boredom. So I will don my suit of shining armour and send you an Email tomorrow.

    Sir Brian de Londinium
  6. Hello Mr. Bean!

It's finally summer break so have some time on my hands. I am a lil bored though. I don't open LitNet that often anymore; mind if we continue further conversations through email? I'll PM you my email address. Miss you lots!

    Love lots,
    Princess
  7. Hullo Princess,

What is wrong with your computer, is it under virus attack? The political website has since been closed down, probably due to the amount of abuse that was being thrown about on it.The self-righteousness that is natural to the Anglo-Saxon race is, nevertheless, often met with virulent abuse and all commonsense goes out of the window as both sides resort to name calling with very little by way of decent discussion. I don't mind a bit of rough and tumble as that has always been part of political debate but when it produces nothing but insults it becomes irrelevant. I couldn't comment on your discussion with your friend except to say that Evelyn Waugh the English writer once famously said that one should try everything once except incest and morris dancing.

    Be good,

    Brian
  8. Hello Sir!

That holiday is too commercialized for my taste so i don't really give it much thought. Our computer is still broken, which explains why I haven't been online much. It's great to hear you've been getting good reviews on your book. It's a shame you're not getting intellectual conversations from that political website. It's hard to find people who make sense these days. This reminds me of a talk I had with a friend once. I just asked him how he was doing and we ended up having philosophical discussions about the morality of incest, and reason versus emotions. We used scenes and characters from Star Wars as case studies! It was fun and mentally stimulating at the same time. I sometimes find it amusing how I can be incredibly random when talking to people. So what's new with new?

Best of luck with your book!

    Love lots,
    Princess
  9. Hi Princess,
Don't take Valentine's day seriously, these days it is just another money making excercise by the media. Your classmate from Germany will probably be above average intelligence although there are always exceptions that underline the rule. I am giving up on the political website as it is embarrasing that certain contributors are childish in the extreme and are an insult to human intelligence. I also must consider persevering with my third book. I very recently gave a copy of my second book to a Japanese friend who said she found it exciting and unable to put down. I am waiting for her final verdict on the story.

    Best wishes,
    Brian
