Yes, those jobs should not be too much of a problem. I think you will be fine Becca. Just don't over do it and keep in mind that there will be a boundary that it becomes ridiculous. Frankly from your pictures I think you look lovely now. Oh that is great on the puppy!! He must be a real smarty.
Growing up? Hardly! I guess it's true that I close a lot of doorways on myself with my appearance, but since I've never let that thought cross my mind, it's never (yet) been an obstacle. By the time I reach an age where people expect a bit more from me, my resume should speak for itself. . I want to be a photographer/horse back rider/hippy back packer/potentially work for the UN once I'm done school... I don't think any of those (except maybe UN... haha) would be problematic. Most photographers are allowed to look however they want. I think the general public expects some insanity and freakishness from the 'artsy' people. Anywho. I guess my point is that despite how people look, even if a certain level of professionalism is expected, many have the capability to do certain jobs. I do see what you're saying, but part of what makes me who I am is the fact that I won't back down on this, or anything else. I might be a bit too idealistic. No, I don't have a dozen hoops in my face, and I'm willing to tone it down for jobs. I usually wear studs in my nose, and draw my eyebrows on in a normal color/dye my hair a normal color for job interviews. At least at first... haha. P.s. thought I'd tell you a little something about how my puppy is coming along... he's calmed down a lot now and we go out at least an hour a day, but he's learned how to open our front screen door/jump our fence, and is now playing the game of 'terrorize the mailman.'
You're growing up. And that's another point I didn't consider in that thread. I'm interviewing 22 to 24 year olds. They better have some maturity. Becca, I'm not saying you should change, but you should be conscious that the whole world is not there to tolerate different whims. You have a right to do dress and do what you want. But they have a right to expect certain criteria out of their employees. It's not a question of looking down on you, it's a question of defining what is a professional for a certain field. Was it you that wanted to be a photographer? Well, I don't know this as a fact or not, but it's probable that some piercings is perfectly acceptable in the profession of photographers. But as an engineer or a corporate manager, that might not be. You see what I'm saying. Bless you Becca, you're such a nice person. Plus to be honest, in looking at your photos, I don't really see much to be taken aback with. It's not like you got a dozen hoops in your face.
Shall we just agree to disagree? I do understand some of your points, but being the argumentative teenager I am... . I personally meet other people halfway. I don't dye my hair crazy colors anymore, I don't have my really obtrusive piercings anymore, and I dress normally for work. But I digress. I like you very much as well. And I like hearing points of view from people who don't agree with me. It keeps me thinking.
I'm sorry Becca. I know you would work hard and be diligent, but that's only because I know you and your work ethic. But if some stranger is sitting in my office and I have a half hour to detrermine whether this person would fit in, how am I to know what he's really like? But I am telling reality. Becca I know you have a good heart, and that is the most important thing in life. But to be successful you half to meet people half way. And then they will usually meet you half way back. To say this is me, take it or leave it, well people might just say I'll leave it. Once people see you do a good job then they will give you slack. Becca from the bottom of my heart I like you a lot.
You make me so mad. I like you a lot, and I enjoy debating with you, but you make me So. Mad. You have no idea. I had to put that out there... I don't want to quarrel with you (partially because I know I can never win and also because I like you) So I'm just going to leave the entire 'piercing' thread alone. Sooo yeah! Have a nice day.
Thanks, Virg... I wouldn't agree, though... I just love horsies.
Hey you. I just wanted to tell you you've got a great heart. You're such a nice young lady.
Funny story in my blog. Think you might get a kick out of it. http://www.online-literature.com/forums/blog.php?b=8365.
I'm fine thank you. Are you taking him on walks ona leash? Also are isolating him alone? The walks on the leash gives him a natural discipline while leaving him alone makes him very anxious.
