  1. I can handle synths in moderation, but only if I know I can always switch to the good ol' sweet sublimity of a violin (or glockenspiel or mandolin etc.) whenever I choose.
  2. sorry. I mean if I would have heard the synth first, I would have run away screaming.
  3. Wait, what? If you had heard what before what you wouldn't have listened to more? This before, say, Gulag Orkestar? I'm confused... "this" and "that" can do that to me...
  4. except for this, if I would have heard that before anything else that he did, I would have never listened to more...so, there you go, it takes something you like to introduce you to things you wouldn't usually go for.
  5. I actually really like it (more even than the March of the Zapotec side). I like when bands or artists explore different directions. Diversity's always good.
  6. the funny thing is, is that I liked it, didn't even think to categorize it. once I like an artist, or poet, I trust them to tell me their story.
  7. Realpeople Holland
  8. Z, do you mean Beirut's new album, March of the Zapotec? otherwise, I'm completely at a loss. I did a google search and found something they'd done with Calexico? dunno.
  9. ooh, and have you heard the new Beirut split-album? They've gone prog! synths galore! (I kinda dig it)
  10. I've written one "ghost of a begraggled sonnet" (which you read) and a few lousy attempts that, for now, have gone nowhere. I wish I had the internet at home to try out the Genius function. For now I'm stuck with bands I already know or hear of through word of mouth.

by the way, you sound like a Stevens officianado these days.
