I can't understand what you're talking about, I've already translated to headlines, two whole sentences and found definitions for both "turbofan" and its Finnish equivalent "ohivirtausmoottori" (I'm really making some effort with the term list this time - I even borrowed a book from the library that has one spread about jet engine) Ready for the shock of our other twin photo? Just let me know and I'll post it
I'm shocked already, looking at my new Finnish face You don't seem to be translating much, do you? YOU ADDICT!!
I know we do I've got another one, but in that we're wearing very heavy make up (you remember when we performed in Fame musical at school?), so get prepared for a shock I'll have to start translating now or I won't get any sleep tonight, though I think I might still be dropping by every once in a while (this place is too damn addictive)
Hello Kizpanna We look so alike on that pic Oops... mom is calling Maxanna for lunch I'm back later
Hi, Maxanna You forget words far too quickly if they're not in active use. It's so annoying when you know you should know that specific word but can't for the life of you remember what it is... Yeah, hot dogs, hamburgers, apple pie, brownies... There were also Oreos (in Finland we have Domino cookies that are pretty much the same but taste better ) and even some Pop Tarts, though I didn't get to taste those. Good luck with remembering your lost tune! I hope it will come back to you As it seems we're identical twins now, what about a photo with both of us? Like this one:
All in all, the harmonica experience would be healthier than sitting for so long at the computer, because of my recurrent lower backaches and neckaches. I guess we all have to carry some pain with us though or life wouldn't have its tremendous appeal made of these exquisite combinations of pleasure/pain I too joined the "Steal an avatar weekend" thing, overly a mess by now and very funny See whose avatar I picked!! I'll give a tip in case you don't notice... "it has a Norse touch"
I also have much trouble with schedules. I'm considering the chance of hiring a time planner , because I hardly ever meet deadlines, though my punctuality for meetings remains close to the British type Some words/phrases slip off my mind too, when they are new to me, be it my mother tongue or English. I think it has to do with the frequency of use. Sometimes I spot a new word, learn its meaning, how to use it, but if I don't need it often I forget it, and what bugs me the most is that when I need it back, I recall I once learned it but I can't remember the word itself Was that American food like hot dogs and burgers? I picked my newly acquired harmonica, and began blowing and aspiring through the little holes. Out of nowhere, there came a sad tune that made some sense to me (I was sad at the moment ). The problem is that now I can't reproduce it because of being a newbie, so I'm considering getting sad again to see if I can repeat the melody
Apparently I'm not smart enough to prevent my schedules from clashing, which is causing me extra trouble... And I spent quite a lot of time at the centre all for nothing, because my class was cancelled, but I hadn't read my e-mail late last night or this morning, so I didn't know it until I was there. We were supposed to get those translations back today, but as we didn't, I can't say for sure whether it sucked or not The Swedish test went pretty well, I think, though I forgot a couple of basic words. It's so annoying when that happens... I did know about the translation day, and I spent the evening with other translators Not in the official conference there was, but we had "an American evening" for all translator students organized by those who study English translation, with American food and such What have you been up to these past couple of days?
You are a smart lady, I'm sure your translation won't suck at all Talking about translations, did you know that September 30 is the International Translation Day? Well, I didn't, so in case you don't know either, then Happy International Translation Day and about the matter, I opened the thread September 30, Happy International Translation Day I had a nice birthday, though less Valkyries than expected THANK YOU FOR BEING FIRST TO NOTICE How did the Swedish test go? You think you did fine? We have a time difference of 6 hours, so at certain hours, your nights are our days and your days are our nights
Well, that translation's been sent to the teacher already, I just hope he'll find it okay. It's the first one ever I've done for this teacher, so I have no idea how he's going to grade them. I'm afraid my term list sucks, as I had no idea how it was supposed to be done properly, but no can do. Perhaps it will be better next time after he's told me exactly why this one sucks so bad I hope you had a great birthday, even if we couldn't make it to the meadows of heaven this year As much as I'd like to postpone it, I guess I'll have to go and study for my Swedish grammar test I've got tomorrow morning Good night! (Though it's probably day in your country at the moment, but here it's getting late )
