Our winters are long and summers short, but seven months of snow is not true, at least in most of the country. In Lapland it can happen, but not always. Here (in the southern part of the country) there's snow maybe from November to March, but usually the first snow melts a couple of times before we get some that stays for a long time, and also there's not necessarily very much snow left in March. A constant cover of snow lasts usually just for a couple of months. But hey, in return for dark winters we've got those summer nights filled with light. Ever heard of midnight sun? At 10 p.m. in the summer there can be more light than there's in midday in winter... We're very melancholic, you'll only have to listen to some Finnish music and you'll soon realise that most of it is in minor and the lyrics are very rarely happy.
