Conversation Between Maximilianus and Annamariah

  1. FINALLY!!! ....... (was that too spontaneous? )
  2. I'm back and alive, just a little ill (of course I had to catch a cold as soon as I had some freetime), which is why I haven't returned to litnet sooner. I enjoyed the trip, only the vast amount of people everywhere was a bit overwhelming (I'd never been in a city larger than Helsinki before, and we've only got a population of half a million).

#2 I'm not sure how you'd define Narnia - it's another world yet our world exists too in that reality (Narnia is one of my favourites). But in general I'm not that much into stories that happen completely in another reality, though there are of course some exceptions to that rule too.

#3 If you really want to become a choir member of mine, just tell me when you'd like to sing for me and I'll organise an audition, and then I can tell you whether you'll get in or not (One of our male singers just quit so we've only got one boy/man in our choir at the moment... we could really use some more of them )
  3. My sleeping pattern is so weird that it's beginning to hit me badly. I often stay till 5:00 or 5:30, I turn nonstop for about an hour, falling more or less asleep at about 6:30, then to get back on my feet at about 8:00, then feeling weak all day like, as though life itself had laid its burdens upon me. How tragic, uh? Already pitying me? Tonight, however, I must try to drop myself in bed earlier. I need to get back to an approximately normal pattern, but I've heard it must be done gradually; otherwise it won't work, as they say.

  4. Being a tourist can be by far riskier... I hope you're doing fine and come back safe... I hope the Brits are not getting their ideas within your Finnish mentality... I hope the Brits are not talking you out of your "Finnishry" by now (I made up a new term )

#2: Hmm... I see... so you wouldn't like stories about parallel worlds, right?

#3: Can I land a role in your choir? Oh please, please, cast me in your choir... I want to be a tenor! (better not; your ears would implode, explode and whatnot )
  5. And by the way, I make it till 2 am and past it on a regular basis, even too regular... Especially if I don't have to wake up early the next morning, I can easily stay up till 4 or 5 am. Not a good habit, I know - but hey, at least you can't say you're any better than me in keeping a healthy sleeping pattern
  6. I just decided to drop in briefly before going to bed (and tomorrow morning I'll be heading to London!). As you see, I survived scouting weekend, now let's see how I'll do as a tourist

#2: I like historical novels the best, I think, and then I like "half fantasy", where fantasy elements are mixed with the world that we live in (I'm not that much into fantasy series that happen in completely different world/reality).

#3: I prefer not to lose my fellow singers, as 3-5 different melodies at once sound much better than just one voice I can sing solos with them backing me up with supporting melodies

The Swedish test went okay, I guess (or at least I hope so!). But now I'm not going to think about school for a week Let's just hope everything will go fine and we'll have a great time in Britain
  7. Have a nice week in London!
  8. Oh my! I'm not the only night rider here! You made it past 2 a.m.!!

To #1: what a clever warrior you are to never surrender your weapon!

To #2: what fiction you like the most, science fiction or fantasy/mythology?

To #3: small choir, no threat... good strategy.... better to let 'em do whatever they want than ending up leading yourself only though you can always start a SOLO CAREER

To #4: beware of the Brits, for they have a reputation of being weird folks! (no, I'm not insane yet... but beginning )

To #5: Thank you for everything... like... putting up with my incipient insanity

    Goodnight Anna-täti
Big luck with the Swedish test
  9. 4) None. That's why it's high time to visit London and I'm so excited about it

    5) Not at all Ask anything you like, but don't expect me to answer to the craziest inquiries you might come up with

Now I really must head to bed. I've got a Swedish grammar test tomorrow and I haven't had time to study for it at all, so I hope I'll be able to read a little at bus tomorrow morning Goodnight!
  10. I've spent the whole evening with a translation, but now it's finally finished (and it's almost 2 am, but I need a moment to turn off my brain before I can go to bed, so here I am like a true LitNet addict...)

    So, answers:

    1) I prefer not to lose my weapons, so I prefer not to throw them away

    2) For the first two years we did all kinds of translations, but this year we have special field translations. I'm currently doing technical translations to both directions and medical/biological translations from English to Finnish. I'm going to take a course about translating fiction, if it will be possible, as that interests me the most.

    3) I've been the choir leader of translator students' choir from this autumn. There are 12 singers in our choir, and as they're all volunteers, I don't dare to threaten them with axes or knives, 'cause I don't want to scare them away.
