Yes, Rubens. One of my absolute favorite paintings. Would have been his sister-in-law if she had not died before he married his second wife, Hélène Fourment. The painting is so stunningly sensuous that there have long been suspicions that Rubens and Susanna were lovers. My profile picture is actually a Persian piece (but there are certainly Mongol and even Chinese influences in this work)... an illumination from a Persian book of poetry. The background is Chinese calligraphy. I am an artist with a passion for Asian and Middle-Eastern (as well as European) art. There's no real rhyme or reason to the choices of images I use... except on the purely visual level. Welcome to LitNet!
