Admit it!! It was you who sent all that snow!! And now it's here and I can't go running! Take it back! I hope your throat is better and you don't forget your socks and shawl and bonnet and mittens .
Awww!!! Happy Valentines Day to you too Cookie! *hug*
Happy happy Valentine!! (Actually, I don't like Valentine's Day much, but maybe you do, and since I was shamefully late for submitting those anonymous Valentine PMs I wanted to have sent to you, I just have to do it myself now!) Hope you have a nice weekend!
Oh its like the 80's alright! and early 90's to be honest. Have i been to Glendalough. Only a million times! one of my faourite places! and yes we could go when you come over. It is true a magical place.
Ooo, maybe we could go to Glendalough together when I'm there! I would love to see it! The surroundings look so stunning on the pictures! Have you ever been there? I had no idea things were so bad in Ireland!... From what I know about Irish history, sounds like the 80s all over again.. I'm sorry about your pay cut! I really hope everything will turn out well for you!!
Oh and as for the economy...lets just say: population- 4 million. Amount of people made unemployed in the last 12 months- over 300,000, 36,000 of which was january 09 alone! Its bad here. My company is actually trying to dig itself out of a massive hole. I'm already suffering a pay cut and a few other bits and pieces...
Well thats silly! I actually got a similar reaction... also from a kerryman! Prudes! You could have focused on the effect the Playboy riots had in the Anglo-irish literary revival, and the Nationalist visage the theatre tried to portray. Ah well!! Monasticism eh? you should visit Glendalough. That is the most important Monastic settlement in Ireland.
I'm so looking forward to coming to Dublin and seeing you again! I'm sorry about your sore throat! *gets up to hand Niamh a cuppa sage tea* It's extremely cold here and everyone is catching colds... I imagine it must be even more arctic up there where you are! Hehe, the Kerryman! I understand him a bit better now, but it still takes me several minutes to make the jump from "bohdaydoh" to 'potato'. But anyway, the Kerryman's not my friend anymore.. He wasn't pleased with my proposed essay topic on "The Abbey as a political icon of Dublin", says it's too political a topic (what kind of a reason is that?!?!), and now I have to write about early Irish monasticism . I just hope that's more interesting than it sounds... Yeah, the economy... up until now, I've always thought that was some strange events happening far far away, without any repercussions on my life whatsoever, but now it's everywhere here as well. Growing up sucks . I'm sure everything will be fine with your job, though! The world (and especially a bleak one!) definetely needs good book-fairies, and who knows, this crisis might be over sooner than everyone thinks! Not that I know anything about economics, but it looks like the people who do were the ones who let it come this far in the first place, so I might just as well be right!
Well...thats fair enough! Deal! you come to me and i'll go over to you. Of course...cambridge wont be as good as Dublin but. I'm sure you are going to have one hell of a trip!!! I'm grand. bit smothered at the moment with sore throat. Everything is a bit bleak over here at the moment with the way the economy has gone... Its effecting everyone. I'm only hoping i'll still have a job in a few months. stress. Hows things with you? can you understand the Kerryman yet?
No, I declined because I didn't get a bursary for Trinity, and what self-respecting young woman could pay those fees... It's a deal, I'll be coming over to Dublin then! And/or you come over and we can visit all the literary places together (surely they can't be as charming as the ones in Dublin, seeing that Dublin has these Ulysses-plates on the pavements, but still ). But anyway, how are things with you?
