Not a great deal - the best part of a day away from my laptop and so it takes a couple of hours to catch up with all the latest postings. I hate the fact that I might have missed something while I was away.
Hey Hill... what's been happening?
indeed - thank god (or your preference or lack thereof of a deity) for [delete]. Oh yeah, sorry i have a tendency to provide a lack of explanation for things I do, (cause i think that everyone should know what i'm doing anyways haha jokes). But whenever I sit down with a thought in my head of a story, I usually set out to find the character in the plot, that's where the flow diagram comes in, usually only 4-5 boxes and just gives me a quick look at what the character is like in the beginning - if he/she (god i hate political correctness) decides to end up like that, is totally up to them. I agree as well, great to have a like minded group of people who enjoy writing, and willing to put their 2 cents in. don't be jealous of my book, i was writing it for 3 years and it simply just had to be finished. Now, that it's over, the love of writing is still there, I just want to try my hand at something new for a bit. Hence the Lovecraftian tribute.
Not at all - it's good to have friends who enjoy writing. And I'm envious of your novel's success (BUT so pleased for you too). As for formal character bios and plot diagrams, I have never found them much help personally. I much prefer to get to know the character as the story progresses, and half the fun is discovering which turn the story will take next. That's not to say I haven't headed up a few dead ends in my time, but this pen fortunately has a reverse/erase function.
hey thanks again for the critique. my novel should be printed in about 4mnths time, already writing the second one in the series... such a long journey - but fun nonetheless. I totally agreed with what you said as well... just let the characters do the walking - i generally have an idea of where the story is headed, but how they get there is totally up to the character. I don't know if you do this either - but character progression flow diagrams is a fun and believe it or not, soul searching experience. hope to hear from you more, you seem to have a good head on your shoulders and a person i can relate to. thanks again, and hope you don't mind the friend invite. cheers
