Well now, that tune takes me back...to a certain late-summer blue grass festival in the North Georgia mountains...with a hippie chick...and a jug of sweet red wine. This one always cracks me up:Stan Freberg, The Yellow Rose of Texas http://youtu.be/3VSa7W8zBOU
You know me too well and my love of fire. Thanks for the happy birthday. We'll be creating another "Mozartgeist" to burn here in a couple of weeks. Oh...and here's a song I can't seem to get out of my head lately. I think you'd appreciate it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0z--wy_cdwQ
Howdy Gill, Yep, I thought Nike hit a homer with that spot. I liked it when kid running with the football strong-arms the defender, and the kid on the 10-meter platform reminded me of, well, me. When I was about his age, I must've stood on that thing, looking over the edge for 20 minutes before I had the nerve to leap.
I'll let the Brits have a chance to respond to your Nike video, so I'll mention here it was great. A nine minute mile!!? you're an animal. I'm in the 11 +/- range. Gg
"Ah well, the neighbors have always said that my banjo playin' sounds like somebody beating a cat." I could see where that might cause some condusion on their part, you wouldn't want the SPCA knckin on your door.
Gill! Mi amigo del estado de Tejas. Mucho gusto. I enjoyed the links. But I must explain, it's not really my cat. She just showed up one day, missing half her tail, and pregnant. We've been calling her Bob-Cat. My wife took a shine to her and I figured: what the hey, I could use a barn-cat, might cut down on the other barn critters. Well, that lasted all of 2 days, so now she's a house cat who's so ornery she doesn't even like good mountain music. Ah well, the neighbors have always said that my banjo playin' sounds like somebody beating a cat.
Ha, I figured you had a cat. I noticed the play apparatus in the background, kind of like a feline "jungle gym". There's a blast from the past...remember the term "jungle gym"? Who knows, maybe the term is still used today. I've always admired the sound of the banjo and I discovered a few years ago how talented Steve Martin is with the instrument. Not the best audio quality, but this is amazing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l31MSpojWTA Were you a fan of the Beverly Hillbillies?: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kkRkGCm4atE Regards Gilliatt
Ha Ha, Thanks, Gill. It's a great old banjo with somewhat of a "chunky" sound, but I'm afraid my particular style of pickin' is only good for scaring the cat.
