  1. Oh yeah, how is Hemmingway treating you? I am, and it is unbelievably ridiculous; but we did get a nice bit of rain today. Well deserved, I think. How far up north are you? Can you smell Canada's maple syrup?
  2. Sounds like things are going well. I read Slaughter House 5 and I was a fan immediately. I'm reading For Whom the Bell Tolls somewhat slowly.
You're down south right? I hope you are not bursting into flames from how hot it is. We are up here in the north. It is so terrible.
  3. So how was everything?

I sort of...gave up...on my Tolkien plans for the moment; I found Cat's Cradle (Kurt Vonnegut), and I'm completely enthralled - even though I've only read the first few chapters - they are rather short.

I've been crazy busy too - what with my summer program starting soon and my cousin coming back from Georgia...things have been (for want of a better word)...intense.

I hope you found some peace throughout your crazy Fourth of July weekend.
  4. Let me know what is going on later, maybe things will slow down.
  5. Yeah, I'm breathing pretty easy now...just waiting for August 1st - it could not come any sooner. I'm sorry things are a bit hectic for you right now! Hopefully things do slow down soon. I'm assuming you'll be quite busy over the next few days, so I'll expect a reply sometime then. Enjoy the 4th as much as you can!
  6. Hi AC, I have a million relatives coming over the month of July to see the baby, so I will have a hard time reading the book. Maybe after things slow down. I really liked reading last summer. It was fun, but I am a bit busy currently. Things should slow down.
Congratulations in getting into college. It must be such a relief.
  7. Yeah, I was planning on reading The Silmarillion, since I just realized I might have exhausted his trilogy and the Hobbit. And I've never really heard any big noise about it, so that should be interesting.
  8. I read the trilogy and The Hobbit. Is there another work by him that you are reading?
  9. Ah, good ol' Boston. Haha, I hope you're having somewhat of a good time. I am absolutely excited. What work(s) of Tolkien did you read? And of course; it's a 3 week course, and we'll be reading various works of American Literature. I'll drop you a line about that when the time comes.
  10. Hi, Good to hear from you. It is so hot here. I'm in Boston picking up my nephew. University of Maryland in the fall? You must be very excited. I'd love to join you, but I have read Tolkien too recently. Let me know what you are reading for your English class. Maybe then?
