  1. Hi. I am enjoying The Kill so far. I'm trying to collect the series in the Oxford World's Classics, but they don't seem to have all of them, which is why I started with The Kill,(no 2), but you don't have to read them in order I think, they seem to work as stand alone novels. The translator for this one is Brian Nelson, I think he's done a lot of the books in this series. He seems to be ok, it's very readable, but I don;t know how close to the original text it is. I would love to read them in French, but I'm not sure my French is good enough, I may get the gist of it, but I'd miss so much. Which edition/translator were you going for?
  2. Yes there is definitely a lack of time for reading! I am about to order Zola's 'The Kill'. I know you haven't finished it yet, but have you enjoyed it so far? Also, who translated the copy you have and does it seem like a good translation? (unless of course you are reading it in French) Thanks!
  3. Hi. Sorry I took so long getting back to you. I'm still reading Zola. I tend to have a lot of books on the go at the same time, so I am only part the way through both The Kill, and The Ladies Paradise. I do love Zola though. I have read L'Assomoir, and Therese Raquin, which I loved, so my not finishing my current ones yet is not because I don't like him, but because I have so many books on the go! I really should finish one before I start another, but I want to read so many things that I tend to dip into so many books. So much to read, and so little time. Anyway, I just wanted to say that I do love Zola, one of the greats, and will finish the series, although it will take some time.
  4. I was curious to see if you have gotten any further with Zola?
