no, I mean: he doesn't easily accept loosing a single pawn ("in vain"), and he suffers a lot with his mistakes. as though he were playing with living pieces. that caught my attention, and I .. make my efforts, now, to do so as well. (it's a noble understanding of that game.)
What do you mean by value. What I've always went on was that a pawn was worth 1, knights and bishops three, rooks five, and queen eight. Is that what you mean?

yea' .. I'm kind of a beginner too. I'm not actually good at it. I have a problem of viewing the whole table. my strategy-making goes reasonably fine up to the middle. I think I'm too rushy. but I have hopes of getting better
I used to play by mysef too, playing out the recorded games of famous players. My new computer has a chess game in the games I played twice at beginners level. I won the first time and lost the second. So I'm a beginner.
