Neely, I'm ready to purchase a couple more books for my Nook, while at the same time introduce myself to new authors. Knowing your fondness for Wilde, I was hoping you might recommend a Wilde introduction for a first timer. Thanks in advance Gilliatt
Merry Christmas, all the best mate.
Merry Christmas from Russia With Love... (from my stamp collection)...
Ha, ha, well remembered, thanks, yes sort of. The brother-in-law couldn't for the life of him see why I was sat reading a cookbook (Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall's excellent, excellent River Cottage Every Day). It was a strange day. Part of it was fine, but there was a 30 min slot where I had to sit in the kitchen on my own has he had taken it upon himself to go to sleep on the sofa so I had nowhere to sit (and I was not sitting on the floor, I am not a dog) funnily enough this is not how I envision the idea of Christmas Day; sitting on your own in the kitchen. I prefer Boxing Day. Although this year me and Mrs Neely had a blazing row about bread which somewhat disrupted events, never mind. She wants to go over for New Years, but I think I have had enough of that for one year. Hope you had a great Christmas, though the holidays are not over - still time left. All the best, Neely.
Neely, I wanted to pop in and wish you a belated Merry Christmas and a happy new year! How did it go with the relatives this year? Did they give you a hard time about your books? Cheers, Gilliatt
Well I very much enjoyed your work and I think you should give it another shot making a living from it. I don't know how hard the market is for it, but you should give it a go and certainly keep producing regardless - if I had any money I'd buy one for sure!! Ha, I would hardly say I excel in literature to any degree - thanks for the compliment anyway, I still feel like a complete beginner. However that is the nature of it I feel. Oh and thanks for the fish vote, my friend Hugh will be pleased indeed. (If you think I am being annoying on Litnet about food, you should see me at work, though I bribe them with buns - it works!) Keep up the great stuff and post more when you can. Cheers, Neely.
Again thanks! No question regarding the talent of various members of this Forums, prticularly those who excel, such as yourself, in the field of Literature. When it comes to literature, I know only "enough to be dangerous" as the saying goes. I am content in reading what others have to offer. Once in a blue moon, I'll find an opportunity to offer some input on a discussion. Oh...to answer your question: I have painted professionally in the past, but it wasn't much. For example I've rendered (watercolor w/ graphite) some presentation drawings for my first employer. I had also completed some moonlight work for a past coworker that involved rendering floor plans and interior elevations for a proposed hotel in Hong Kong. Gilliatt
Hi, that's amazing stuff honestly. I had a very quick scan of your thread last night (it was getting very late, though I'll look again) and I saw the other Ben and Franklin picture but I didn't think that you had done it, amazing stuff, we have some talented folk at Litnet. Have you ever done it professionally or had any sales? If not, that would be something I'd look into for sure. Cheers, Neely.
Thank very much Neely. Yes; that is my creation. I posted it in "General Chat" under my Ben and Franklin's Thanksgiving thread (more self promotion). You might also enjoy my nonsensical narrative. I have been drawing since I was about 10 +/-, though passionately since my college days in Architecture. Water color began at University in the late 1980's under the tutelidge of a professor and respectable watercolorist. My painting had gone dormant for some time until I rediscovered inspiration here through various members susch as St Lukes, Janine, Toni, et al. Anyhow, I'm glad you enjoyed it. PS - You may also see last year's Ben and Franklin drawing in the thread mentioned above. Gilliatt
Hello there, I absolutely love the pic and the irony of it - brilliant, but do you mean to say that it is your work, did I get you right? If so that's an amazing piece, amazing, honestly. How long have you been drawing? Neely.
