  1. Merry Christmas to you too! And best wishes for a Happy New Year! I'm reading Nicholas Nickleby now, which I like so far.
  2. Merry Christmas, SilentMute!
  3. Oh, yeah, I wonder if I'd like it if I read it again. Some books are just like you remember, and others your like "why did I ever like this?"
  4. I did like Sydney Carton, but he was the only redeemable part of it. I got tired of reading about all the bloodshed.
  5. Hi, Silent Mute! What! How can you hate "A Tale of Two Cities"? It's, uh, actually the only Dickens novel I've ever read. We read it in high school; I loved it. I mean Sydney Carton, and its "a far far better thing I do.." I still get chills.

As for "Great Expectations," well, I liked the movie. It is a great story. Maybe one day when I'm a more mature reader I'll attempt it.
  6. Hi! I hope you are well! I finished "A Tale of Two Cities". I hated it. I'm now reading "Great Expectations", which was the first Dickens novel I ever read--and I've always liked it.
  7. I don't have a family doctor, and my problem is that I can't afford it. I'm rather angry at myself, when I had the reaction I did when I took the TB test months ago for a volunteer position, that I didn't go to the ER. However, I managed to alleviate the most serious symptoms with allergy medicine. I didn't want to spend any money since our finances are tight. Now I regret that decision. I might have been able to get documentation. Allergy medicine helped the symptoms, but you need to take two tests two weeks apart. My respiratory system was affected for an entire month afterwards, and I was scared of taking the second test. I thought the allergy medicine wouldn't be enough. However, I am currently looking into affordable healthcare, and I hope that I'll be able to get things resolved. I guess, though, there is a reason for the concern. TB, which had been a disease that seemed to be on its way out, is making a comeback.
  8. Hey SilentMute,

I'm glad things are going well for you. Can you go to your family doctor to get your allergy documented? It sucks that you are sort of in limbo until then.

A student of mine (last year) contracted TB, I have no idea how, and died of related causes this last December. They had a meeting, and the health department came out, and people got tested. Everyone was very nervous. They did find one student who had it, and she managed to pass it on to her baby, but other than that, I don't think anyone else got it.

I'm glad, too, in this economy, that you have a job. That is good news. Now we wait and hope for the time you can move forward into the career you've been working toward.
  9. Hi! I hope you are well! I've been having a lot of setbacks, but I've gotten into the proper mindset finally. I got my second proof so I could register for college, but it turns out they want it to be a year old. I was hoping that there was a test to prove that I have an allergy to the TB screens, but it turns out the test was merely an alternate TB test--but until I can document the allergy I have, I can't convince them to give me alternate tests. So, the field that I trained in, is post-poned as a career until I can find a doctor to sign off on me. I am looking into affordable healthcare, but that may take a while. Meanwhile, I'm doing my studies and looking for a secretarial job. The good news is, I do have a little job. It doesn't pay much, would not support me if I needed it to--but it does bring in a little money, and I can do it from home--which is nice. Anyway, hope everything is good with you.
  10. I'm doing well. Having some difficulty balancing my life--it is terrible to have so many responsibilities and interests. But I'm hopeful that a few obstacles in my life might get sorted out after all--but in any case, I feel better about it all in general. I hope you have a well-rested weekend. Always look forward to hearing from you, but take care of yourself first.
