Well, today I remembered that I entered the short story competition in june 2007 and then I disappeared so I wasn't sure what happened, if anyone voted for it etc. I wasn't even sure if I really submitted my story, perhaps it was a dream, maybe i thought i did... as it turns out i did - I'm not everyone's cup of tea but I did come second with 6 votes, http://www.online-literature.com/for...t=25346&page=2 - mine is 'please would you hold me all night'. So you're the one spying on me with google satellites. Oh I know a car is wonderful freedom. I've gotten into arguments with people who say we should limit cars and start using bikes and walking and public transportation. Sure I can understand what they're saying, but like you point out what's the point of losing over an hour of time going some place when a car can get you there in ten minutes? I'm not sure where you live (city, country, suburb?) but in the US we are so spread out that everyone needs a car and most families need two. And then people I argue with criticize the US for being energy consumers. Well, we are spread out and unless one lives in an inner city it's not easy to have public transportation. Sorry for getting on my soap box. I understand your difficulties very well and I sympatheize.

Manny, that's a good idea and what everyone keeps telling me. However I have been using public transport for nearly five years of my life. It makes me suicidal! The bizarre thing is that I won't be using my car all the time - for example it's much easier taking public transport to work/uni. However there are occasions when I really need a car and I don't want to use public transport or a journey which takes ten minute in a car but nearly an hour on the bus because goes all the way round - like today! Every saturday morning I work with this tuition club company - I only have two students so that's two hours of teaching but two hours is spent travelling back and forth for a ten minute journey! Crazy!!
Oh I saw your comment about thinking on buying a car. If you don't need it Opti, it's best to wait until you have a full time job. A car is nothing but a money pit. Insurance, maitenance, repairs, gas. I don't know your getting about circumstances but my advice is save your money.
Opti, we vote in March on what to read for April. So we don't know what we are reading for April yet. The way it works is that two months before the read (in the case for April that would be February) we nominate books that we wil vote on. The first ten nominations go to a vote. Here is the thread for nominating the books for April: http://www.online-literature.com/for...ad.php?t=41485. On the last page you will see the ten nominated books. On March 1st, Scher will set up a poll for those books and the entire month of March is dedicated to voting. When that poll comes out I will point it out for you. The winner is decided on April 1st and you spend the month of April reading and discussing. Actually you can keep discussing forever. I will not be finished with Kipling's Kim this month. Since I'm behind I will not participate in the March read. Plus I don't care for Catch 22 anyway, and it sure looks like that will win. Oh and no apologies needed. Oh that dark pessimistic solitary side is only a reflection of your age. I was like that when I was your age and it fades with maturity. The way you are in public is the way you will mature to. Now the question is what will I mature to?

Virgil - yet another question about out book club, what are we reading for April? I won't be able to read the war novel we've picked (which won?) for 1st of March, not enough time. so I'm going for the next one which I am assuming we should have finished by 1st of April? Apologies advance.
