  1. (continuation)

In terms of sincerity, my compatriots are not so patriotic either. They tend to believe they are because they listen to whatever crap the radio says it's tendency, and they wear T-shirts with our flag on them, while having secret passions for foreign matters, not always admitted. Most of us are similar in that we all hide something we feel attracted to, not to be scolded by others who in turn do the same exact thing, but hypocrites call themselves patriots because of the music they listen to or the type of TV they watch. I don't. Patriotism is quite a bigger concept than radio waves or TV shows, in my opinion.

What rifle is that, a Nokia? I know, I know, they don't make rifles... oh, wait... do they? ... I think we all are patriotic to some point, and not so patriotic to another point. Our mind responds more to what means something to us, and not so much to where it comes from (humble thought).

  2. Okay, I'll do what you say... I've just forgotten about it... till I remember back Now, seriously, I'll try to contain myself

I'm nowhere near to being a true nationalist. I'd be horrible to the eyes of my folks if they knew what I'm up to (I keep my interests in secret, to avoid attacks ). The only national song I know by heart is our anthem, out of about 5 more anthems meant for specific national holidays Let alone drooling over local pop bands, whose lyrics/sounds can't find a way through my ear, with very few exceptions. Not that I dislike what they do because they are locals; nothing to do with it. It's just that I can't find myself into what they do, like when someone's telling you a story you don't feel a part of. It may have to do with my constant exposure to what artists do in other places and how they do it, be it music, films, etc., that sets me apart, I think, but it's how my mind works. Is it so wrong? Many often say it is.

  3. Yeah, you won't get that from me So either you'll forget about it or find out some other way. I recommend forgetting it

I feel like a horrible Finn, not celebrating the Independence Day. It's just that celebrating alone isn't really much like celebrating, especially when I haven't managed to clean my room in far too long time and I'm looking like a mess (this damn skin). Also there are some deadlines that won't wait...

But hey, I've spent the weekend translating the part about assault rifle from the Finnish soldier's handbook - isn't that patriotic enough? My brother also visited and helped me with all the terms, which was great (saved me a few hours of work and frustration).

What have you been up to?
  4. Hmmm.... an f-word.... Hmmm.... I can't guess what word it could be.... I have never ever heard such an f-word in English.... is it rude language of the type never ever heard in movies or TV because of the politeness of English speakers? .......

Don't blame yourself, after all I begged you to tell me, so you just responded on the basis of your kind heart

I guess at this point I can't beg to have that mysterious f-word in suomi version, so I'd better refrain from stressing my so far good luck...
  5. Don't worry, as a Finn I hear "prkl" a lot, so I'm quite used to it. Anyway, it's not nearly as bad as the Finnish equivalent to the f-word. So you're forgiven Besides, it's my own fault, I shouldn't have agreed to tell you what it was in the first place

    See you
  6. I've been just wondering what you think of me by now. And I feel like I owe you an explanation and an apology for the bold italic comment, a few messages ago In trying to devise a funny comment, I neglected the possibility that the lady may think I have the habit of swearing in a machine-gun style, which I actually don't, and I hope you can believe it. After giving a conscientious thought to my mistake, I realized it wasn't an appropriate remark in a man-to-lady conversation. Can I be forgiven, please?

    Nähdään!
  7. näkemiin
  8. Bye, see you later

(Hei hei = bye bye, nähdään = see you, näkemiin = bye for now, hyvästi = goodbye)
  9. Hmmm... then I'd better hold it to myself... I'm not good for being caged. I'm more like the freedom guy

I hate leaving but I have no choice. Bye for now

    ... Kiitos!

PS: how do I say goodbye?
  10. Okay, I guess that might work. Go screaming that in public and they'll either give you some therapy, or just lock you in a padded cell
