  1. I've finished reading it, and I must say I enjoyed it very much! At first when I read the synopsis, I was a little worried because I don't have any background on British history and politics. Which probably explains why I couldn't identify yet the political elements in the extract. But the story itself was fascinating! Rather fast-paced 'cause I was flying off the pages, so to speak. It was an added bonus on my part since I'm also interested in art. Thank you!
  2. I would appreciate your opinion of the extract once you have read it. As the synopsis explains, the book is in narrative form and so there is no actual dialogue but reported speech. This was because the political/legal content of the book is the dominant feature of the story and narration is more suited to such a work.
  3. That sounds absolutely interesting, Mr. Bean! I'm taking a course in political science, you see, so you definitely caught my eye... I'll be googling your book a little later. Thank you so much!
  4. Thanks for your interest Princess. I am not a political writer per se although Pro Bono Publico is a novel with a political background aimed at telling the truth as to what happened to the UK during the post second World War period as opposed to people's received opinion. The book took me a long time to write because I had to check my facts repeatedly in order that there could be no doubt about them. I adopted the pen name Emil Miller from one of the minor characters in W S Maugham's Of Human Bondage, which happens to be one of my favourite novels. This was necessary because some of the fictitious characters in the story are modelled on people I have known over the years and I had no intention of deliberately upsetting them should they read the novel.
If you want to read a sample of my writing, type in the Google box Pro Bono Publico by Emil Miller (If you type anything else you will get masses of items on an American painter of the same name) and you will find a number of entries concerning the book .The one headed Page Title will actually give you a synopsis of the story and an extract from the book which is a good example of the non-political content of the story.
  5. Hello again, Mr. Bean! I'm just curious, judging by your profile photo, you don't happen to be a political writer, do you? What kind of writing do you do? If it's not too much to ask, may I see a sample of your work please?
  6. Hi Princess,

Yes I would be pleased to be your friend and I appreciate the way you answered my thread about your favourite authors even if I asked for your most favourite only.
At least you gave your reasons for liking them which some contributors have overlooked.
  7. Hello Mr. Bean. I'm new here and I've answered one of your polls and really enjoyed myself. Do you mind if I add you as a friend? You seem really interesting.
