Looking out with non- seeing eyes
That was there a time ago
Concealing life that life contained
No longer there but all too see
Love no longer can it give
But exists till memories are no more
They are many and we are few
We become them but they never us
Our future is theirs and theirs is ours
The thought of it chills our bones
And fear clouds our thoughts
Seasons no longer touch the flesh
Pain is no longer what they feel
But we should worry not
Remember they sleep and toil no more
It is our future as was theirs
When it arrives embrace with open arms
For resistance is futile and we cannot win
And remember this for it will prove true
Death is a waiting for all that has breath
So greet him and rest in peace

Stained with life that lives no more
Disfigured forms scar the earth’s floor
None will be seen till the spring thaw
Showing evidence of another bloody war

Snow stained carnage yet again
Showing man’s lust for pain
And to what is the gain?
None! It’s just man’s game

Ice so lightly stained in pink
Tainted water unfit to drink
And snow covered in life’s ink
Even more into depravity we sink

Blanket of winter covers our crime
But it is hidden for a short time
Figures fixed in mocking mime
Becoming another bloodstained shrine

Death to them is no longer a mystery
Their marble faces now history
Once they belonged to humanity
Taken by cold heartless insanity

They came from the warming womb
Fed by breast and loving spoon
Looked upon by sun and moon
Only to be put in an early tomb

Frozen wastes hiding our shame
Only to be exposed again and again
We forget that each had a name
And to life each had their claim

When the long winters had its day
And flowers of spring make their way
No matter what we do or say
Another season will join the bloody fray

This world is hell, not paradise
Man’s endless bloodlust will not suffice
Crawling the world as detestable lice
Turning another winter into pink ice

Creatures of my night
By
RG57

The creatures of my night
Have no soul, no hope, no life
They devour me, and tear me apart
No part of my sleep is untouched
Because my sleep is void and without rest
No matter where I hide
They are there, there in every corner of my mind
If I were deaf and blind
They would still taunt me
Taunt me with a passion
A passion devoid of mercy
Some call it paranoia, neurosis, depression
Somethingaphobia,
It will always have a name
Always a name I don’t understand
What do they know?
Have they seen the creatures of my night
Have you, have you seen them?
They feed on my fears, salivate on my pain
Laugh and ridicule at my tears
They torment my every being
Like electricity they flow to the very depths of my soul
During the day they sleep, but that will not last
Because one day they will take my only solace
And become the creatures of my day

Earth’s Pain

One morning the earth found me crying.
She said to me ‘Why do you weep?’
‘Earth’ I replied ‘I’m in such pain’.
‘Where is your pain?’ she asked of me,
‘For I can not see any injuries’
I said ‘ no earth, my pain cannot be seen’
‘It is a pain from deep within my soul’
Earth said ‘Tell me, what ails you’
And I did…
‘This morning I saw a million graves
Then a million more
I saw wives without husbands
Lovers with empty beds
Children with no fathers
I saw fields of blood that never dry
I heard unending tears of pain
I saw such horrors that I cannot speak of
That is my pain and why I weep
Earth then looked at me and said…
These are tears of despair
They are tears of your guilt
‘My guilt’ said I ‘What guilt?
What have I done to weep as I do?’
Earth sighed and then said
‘You made the graves,
And you caused a widow’s grief,
The lover to sleep alone
You have made a world with orphans
It is you who soak the fields with blood
And the unspeakable horror is war.’
Earth replied, she too weeping as she spoke…
‘You have scarred my body with your hate,
You have drenched my skin with your blood,
You made the weapons for war from my flesh
And you hide your dead under my skin
You have hurt and defiled me since your very birth’.
‘How can you accuse me of all that?’ I cried.
Earth then looked at me with eyes of steel…
‘It is not accusation, it is truth that I speak’.
‘How can it be, you don’t even know my name!’ answered I.
‘Yes I do’ said earth ‘you are called MAN’.
With that earth spoke no more.
