An older poem:

I lost you that day
On the shores of eternity.
You were engulfed by the sea;
Taken as its prisoner

I trembled as I looked on
Across the crescent of the moon
Your silhouette slipping away
Into the unbridled waves.

I lost you that night
To the fervor of the sea.
You left like a ship
Commanded by the stars
Into the Unknown, the uncertain.

Now I never go back to the sea
For I am envious of its freedom,
Of its courage to rage and roar.
Envious of its incantation over you

The sea stole you away,
My love
As if your heart belonged to its depths

And I granted its desires;
I watched you drown
in its maddening yearning.

For you were never mine,
But always the mistress of the sea

and the new one...

Like the seagull's cry
Reminiscent of solitary
Days at the beach
Your words puncture
My gauzy breath

The salty taste of
Love's leftovers
Fills my mouth,
As if eager
to be swallowed

Swallowed into the sea;
As the gulls scream
Under the disheveled sky,
Ready to crumble amongst
The clouds.

A wreckage is no
more and no less
Beautiful than this.

Gypsy Girl

Run, little girl
Run, become a woman now.
You are like a gypsy
Pregnant with fear
And loathing.
Your wrath towards the
World which outcast you
Grows in angry pangs,
Like a child's kick in the womb.
Yet, you have not yet
Given birth to your
Importunate sorrow.
I pray you do not
Carry the infant of
Your grief into this world,
And pierce my already
Gaping wounds with your
Echoing wails.

No one knows your
Name, gypsy girl.
They judge your
Charcoal cheeks
And wide, lost eyes,
But they ask not your name.
They see your dress
Flailing in the wind
But know not the
Numbness you feel
Even in the resonant motion
Of your dance.

How can they know you,
My gypsy girl?
How can they see your
Beauty as I see it?

So run, run gypsy girl
And don't look back.
You are a wanderer,
Like me.
You are a drifter,
Like me.

Take your solitude
Far from these hills
And these tainted sylvans.
Run, and become a woman—
A woman without a name.

Real like the love which
sails the seas unrequited and wasted.

The age of lyricism
Abates and dissolves
Into unspoken words;
Unadorned with poetic pasts,
corroded with impure verse,
swollen with weighted time.

Time is but a measure
of eternity.
Time, a poet's temptress,
a lover's enemy.

For in love, we are the song
Destined to be unsung.
A song that resurrects dreams,
and births sorrows

Our denouement shall never come.
Love, canonized,
under autumn leaves
in memory remains undone.
