  1. Disinformation

by , 05-19-2021 at 03:42 PM (Memories of the 28th Century)
I have written about the persistence of ignorance before, and I wish I had adequate data to determine the cause. I don't think that actual scientists are very likely to hold onto information that has been shown to be false, because they research their subject before they go further into it. Unfortunately, there are some people who write articles on scientific matters who do not bother with researching.

Earlier today, I looked for articles about the “ozone hole”, because that has ...
  2. Federal Republic

by , 05-05-2021 at 09:09 PM (Memories of the 28th Century)
It has become popular for politicians at the federal level to ignore the Constitutional limits of power of the federal government. The federal government has taken to itself power of nearly all governmental functions, even though many were not granted to it in the Constitution. And they ignore the Tenth Amendment: “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.” Which makes it perfectly ...
  3. Loss of Reason

Thinking about the time period and other things that were going one made me wonder if there was a relationship between decreased logic in public discourse and the deinstitutionalization of the mentally ill. Did the fact that the mentally ill no longer were kept away from the general population suggest that irrationality was acceptable? I am hesitant about writing this, because ...
  4. Rationale for State Socialism

by , 04-08-2021 at 03:41 PM (Memories of the 28th Century)
For years, various people have been trying to persuade the American people to adopt socialism, but there have always been problems, until recently, when we have seen exactly how government succeeds in the distribution of goods. Specifically, I mean the distribution of vaccine against Cov-SARS 2, AKA the Covid 19 vaccine.

To ensure fairness and efficiency in the distribution, the federal government took it upon itself to oversee the distribution and delegated the states to handle ...
  5. Freedom to Succeed

by , 03-15-2021 at 08:26 PM (Memories of the 28th Century)
I have written about equality before the law in the past, but there are other varieties of equality, and I was just thinking about equality of wealth. That was because I saw something about Lizzie Warren's idea for a wealth tax.

It seems that she and some others think that everyone should have equal wealth. That may seem nice in theory, but it never has worked in practice. But I can understand why some people are unhappy that there are people as wealthy as Bezos and Gates in a country ...
