  1. Unclear About Standards

    by , 06-25-2015 at 03:08 PM (Memories of the 28th Century)
    Increasingly over time I have noticed that people are less impressed by the difference between correct and incorrect, but the problem has become a serious problem in recent time. In former times there were criminals who made a living by ignoring standards, but in recent decades it has even gotten into elementary schools, where there seems to be little difference between correct and incorrect answers.

    That’s a minor problem in elementary school, but it seems to have seeped into many ...

  2. Propaganda of the Climate Change Movement

    by , 06-22-2015 at 04:50 PM (Memories of the 28th Century)
    This isn’t the first time, and it may not be the last time, but I am sick of the propaganda that is spewed out by climate change alarmists. I decided to look around for material that would turn my rant into something that would have wider appeal, and the article from bibliotecapleyades.net is one such item. There seems to be an innate urge for young adults to do stupid things, and that may be an evolutionary tool. The urge to drive fast, drink in excess, etc. traditionally eliminated some of the most violent and stupidest people, and they enjoyed it. That may be a cold hearted way of looking at youthful folly, but evolution is cold-hearted. Over the long run, the fittest will survive more than the less fit, but there is a legitimate question as to whether human consciousness is messing with that through ...

    Islam: A Faith Full of Prohibitions?
    @muhsin234 (Twitter)

    Islam and its about 2 billions adherents suffer an acute ad hominem criticism in various places in the world today. The condemnations are wide and wild. While the notorious one centres on terrorism carried out by some Muslims, dubbed extremists; a salient other one is on the many prohibitions embedded in the religion. A non-Muslim friend of mine once told me, “I can’t practice Islam. There are more ‘Noes’ than ...
