  2. The Scarlet Letter

I've just finished reading The Scarlet Letter. Though the basic mood is quite unpleasant and heavy, there's still some reflections one can get after knowing about sin and salvation, that kind of stuff. The characters in this novel are all quite vivid and the changes of their psychological world are all individual and significant. Besides, the symbolic meaning of the Scarlet Letter"A" is not certain, form "adultery"to"able"and"angel", to leave the space of ...

  3. wikiHow

    by , 03-31-2007 at 01:36 AM (I'm a Diced Tomato)
I discovered wikiHow today. I amused myself by reading the various lame wikiHows on "How to Become a Cultured Person", "How to Cope With Not Having Friends", and "How to Act Smart in Front of Your Friends". (Urgh! I love the nomination

    The Poem
    © Karalynne Ducharme 2001

    You read the poem
written in a language reserved for verse
dreamy words that paint the picture...
    You search for a phrase
that explains what you are feeling
    and when found
    fills you with a gratitude
    that a kindred spirit endured
    and captured that exact feeling
for you to read again and again
    in the poem

  5. why do epics work?

Why do they work? My sister and I just finished watching a Star Wars movie. Last week I rewatched Pirates of the Caribbean 2. And the Lord of the Rings trilogy is one of my favorites. After seeing them I always feel like I can go conquer evil or be a heroine in some way. Then I start to wonder how I actually would act if an opportunity for heroism arose. Would I shrink and cower and run? Or would I actually stand and fight? I like to think I'd choose the latter, but I really have no idea.
