    by , 01-11-2009 at 08:16 PM (Silas Thorne's Journal)
    I like the ballad 'John Barleycorn' a great deal. Written by the the finest Jewish poet of Scotland, the great Rabbi Burns, it can be appreciated by all, decipherable by all those who can understand the title and are remotely interested in the natural world, alcoholic beverages, or beautiful wordcraft.

    Here are a few lines of John, in Summer (it being Summer here tha now):

    ...The sultry suns of Summer came,
    And he grew thick and strong;

    I'm going to assign a sestina, which may be a harder form, but I want you to think about it. I won't make it due until Feb. 14th to give plenty of time: Here are your instructions and one of my own for a sample. I'm not sure exactly when I'm leaving, but I'm having my internet and TV connection shut off tomorrow, so I figured I'd post this now. I'm not sure whether or not I'll have internet access while I'm gone, so this will be one of my last posts until September or October. Don't worry though, I've packed about 15 books to keep me company (I'm going to give Moby Dick another shot), and a pre-packed care package with 10 more ready to ...

  5. Fun With Teachers

    There are little things more annoying, than a teacher you expects their students to have all of their stuff done on time, when they themselves don't do what they say they are going to do on time.

    They also like to act as if their class is the only one you are taking or the most important class you are taking.

    So it is like, excuse me. I am suppose to bust my *** to turn in the work for their class when they want it turned it, but what they are going to maybe, eventually,
