  1. Adventures with trucks & other considerations

by , 01-16-2009 at 09:39 PM (Exiled in a kilt)
I hate whoever loads the trucks that come to the store. I often think they are deliberately trying to piss me off (it aint paranoia if its actually true).

I took delivery of approx 750cubic foot of merchandise today (should've taken me maybe 45mins) Instead of it being organised & ready to go I had to handbomb 10 treadmills because they were stacked so unsafely that the entire skid fell over when I lifted it on the pumptruck. This would've been fine in and of itself, but having ...

  2. Literary Snobbishness

by , 01-16-2009 at 02:10 PM (The Mephistophelean Manifesto)
    I don't get it.

Does the very existence of Twilight or Harry Potter somehow stop people from cracking open one of their dusty old tomes?

Is there suddenly less room in the world that producing a variety of reading material threatens to stretch us to some limit?

The weather here in the Dayton Ohio area has been very cold. Yesterday I had difficulty getting the Grand Marquis vintage 1986 to stay running--the cure being to gun it and drive until it settled in. My driveway tilts downward so using the garage for a windshield is not an option since the least little ice will leave me trapped. But prayer or rather whines to Heaven got me to work and it's purring like a kitten when I arrived at about 3:30 pm to the expected chaos. I was on til midnight and ...

  4. Getting Settled

by , 01-16-2009 at 03:07 AM (My Random Drops of Unadulterated Nonsense)
I'm starting to get settled into what will be my new home for the next few months. My trip over here was incredibly long, so I'm still suffering from a bit of jet-lag. I'm looking forward to getting to work, which, hopefully, will make the time fly by. Thank-you to all of the well-wishers who stopped by my last post, I really appreciate it.

I do have internet access (obviously), but it is unbelievably slow, so I probably won't spend too much time on Lit-net. I will stop by from time ...

  5. Semi-Vaccation and High school Flashbacks

Yay, no school for me again until next Wednesday, because I don't have class on Friday, and I don't have class on Tuesday, and Monday is a holiday.

Of course I will be spending all of my time "off" doing stuff for school. I have to work on my paper for my Milton class, and have to start getting stuff together for a project in my history class, plus have my usual reading for school to do. But it will be nice to have the extra time to do those things. Two classes a day on
