  1. The Bible

    I am reading Bart D. Ehrman's Misquoting Jesus about how passages in the New Testament have been added, deleted, and altered over time.

    I am not very religious, yet I try not to attack religious people for their beliefs as long as their beliefs make sense. One of my new pet peeves since starting this book is the belief that the Bible contains the words of God, that somehow God guided the hands of the writers.

    Whose hand did he guide? The original authors? Even if ...

    Something a little different

    Fade

    Open one eye slowly
    a twitch
    lifting tentively
    the other begins
    to follow
    heartbeat
    drumbeat
    a count to ten
    moving backwards
    10..9..8..7..6..5..4..3...2...1
    catch a breath
    a pulse
    coming back into life
    move a finger
    command it
    will it
    the rest will follow

  5. Milnes' Lay of the Humble

    Today was a good day. After studying at home some, and having breakfast, I went to the library and read some of John Stuart Mill's essays (okay, one. :D) and then also in the book I found this wonderful poem, Lay of the Humble (Not by Mill, by Milnes).

    Then after that I went to temple and we had one of the most ecstatic kirtans. It was great. Then walking home I met up with someone else walking home and he invited me to his house. I think I made a good friend.
